I finally have the thing sitting on four matching rims and the same size tires. That only took five months. The brakes are good and the front bearings are repacked. I have front brake lines that I need to install. I bought a pair of vehicle dollies at Harbor Freight and lubed up the castors before I installed them and they roll well enough to clearly show how level my driveway is not . Next step will be to get the brakes bled and the shift linkage sorted. That way, when I start it up, I can actually back it out of the driveway. I am going to make some anchor points on the edge of my driveway to keep my car from rolling sideways into the bushes, or crashing down into the garage.

Nice. Starting to look like a proper shag wagon.

It’s funny how appropriate those 90s truck wheels look on a 70s van. Seriously those wheels are the only thing I like about the S-10.

I had to change out all of the studs to make them longer, and I bumped up from 7/16" to 1/2".

Hey, Stranger! Thanks for the encouragement. My friend is bugging me to start it but I want it to be ready to drive up and down the block first.

starting them is about one of the most exciting things you can do. especially when you hear it roar to life for the first time........ i usually fire them up JUST so that i know that everything is okay inside the engine.

its getting closer though. so long as you have another set of hands, the bleeding should go quick. and most of those shifters just get sticky and need some attention with oil/grease to get them limbered back up again.

its happening.......

Let me know how those HF dollies hold up. I’ve considered them.

They will only get occasional use. Assembly is required. The casters come without any lubricant . I lubed the wheels with motor oil and the swivels with bearing grease before I screwed on the casters. Made them roll almost too well, as my driveway is not flat.

My garage floor and driveway have seriously settled since being poured in ‘78 so that’s something to keep in mind. Thanks!

I am going to install some anchors and buy a couple of lightweight come-alongs so I can steady it — safety — while I’m moving it around.
