Well, it’s nearly time for my 8th~ or so visit to the Volkswagen dealer in the year I’ve had this god damn car. (I lost track of how many times it’s been in.)

Here’s what it’s in for this time.....

1. Defective steering wheel clock spring making a noise when the wheel is turned

2. Hill start assist not engaging at all/engaging and not disengaging without revving it up to like 4k. (Third time it’s been in for this same reason.) Every time they say “can not replicate.” I highly doubt they ever check because the lazy assholes who work at this dealer work on their shitty old stanced Civics when they should be working on customer cars. (Ask me how I know.)

3. Air conditioning not working right (2nd time.)

4. Repair a scrape the dealer left on the front bumper (This is the 2nd time.)

Last month the car was in for it’s 10,000 mile service. They didn’t change the oil filter, didn’t rotate the tires and didn’t wash the car. As a result of them not changing the oil filter, the oil level in the car was WAY over the level prescribed by Volkswagen on the dipstick. They charged me around $200 for that bullshit and refused to refund a penny to me. The dealer is 30 minutes away from my house and they also refused to provide a loaner and as they didn’t complete the service, I had to make the trip twice.

Fuck you Volkswagen. At least stand behind your shitty products.

As to when I’m gonna sell it, refer to my previous post.

Questionable engineering on a product distributed by one of the worst dealer networks in the US. I already despise the brand for peddling unreliable goods to hardworking ‘Murican families (yes, the diesel-buying Euros claim their VWs are reliable), and on top of that their service departments generally act like you owe them something.

They sure drive nice......until random stuff breaks.

I still hate VW for what a B5 did to me.

Either find a new dealership or lemon law that shit. There’s no way a brand new Volkswagen has all of those issues.

Absolutely. I’ve never had a good experience at a Volkswagen dealer. Rudest staff, longest wait times, worst customer service and horrible service departments.

Audi on the other hand seemingly does everything right. Never had a negative experience at an Audi dealer. Guess that’s what you get for buying premium.

I’d like to think that’s the problem.

But this is the third Volkswagen dealer I’ve brought this car to, I’m running out of Volkswagen dealers....

It’s funny how my 1997 A4 with 140,000+ miles on it only needed schedule maintenance. Meanwhile, this thing is just shit.

Yeah VW is becoming a joke.....My wifes old 96 jetta never needed work....then we got a 09 Jetta TDI sportswagon......high-pressure Fuel pump/system, Turbo, DPF, Cat, Passenger axel... rear breaks every 20kmiles but the fronts are still untouched......It’s been stuck in the snow for a few months now we’ll see how it runs soon.

I never should have downgraded to a Volkswagen, haha.

The Audi dealer got everything done on time and properly, detailed my car, gave me brand new loaners and even little gifts from time to time. The Volkswagen does none of the above.

I like 7.3. But problem....

Most people buy diesel trucks because they make them money, or for poser points. I need something somewhat more fuel efficient and easier to park in the city. Enter Tacoma or small Silverado.

I’m not really sure yet. Probably an SUV. Something quieter and more road trippable for several people, that has the chops to plow through snow for ski trips, can tow a decently sized trailer, and it would be nice if the unladen highway mileage wasn’t as atrocious as the 7.3's.

They’re alright looking cars, but Volkswagen is shit at putting them together properly. European Volkswagens hold together so much better for some reason.
