Kinja'd!!!

Something caught my eye while I was stuck in traffic waiting for an exceptionally long light; a 4th gen Camaro in Sport Gold Metallic. Knowing that this dealer occasionally finds some vehicles sporting rare colors , I knew I needed to investigate...

Kinja'd!!!

Sport Gold Metallic was a rare color for the 4th gen Camaro - 1,542 were produced in this color for 1998, and 5 were produced in this color for 1999 as part of a Days Inn promotional giveaway.

Locating the online listing , it turns out this is a 1998 model - so, rare, but not ultra-rare. Unfortunately, this one happens to be a V6 ( meh ) and an auto ( boo ).

Still, it makes my day seeing any car in a rare factory color... though I do wish it was Bright Purple Metallic ...

I knew a guy that had one in this color, it matched his 67. He bought it to have the first and “last” Camaro’s...must have been kinds sad when the 5th gen came around. Only his would have had to have been a 2002...as it was new in 2001 when I knew him.

I believe this color was only available in 1998 and 1999. I’m not sure if there was a similar color available in 2001 or 2002. Either way, I’m sure he was a bit disappointed.
