Three years and counting. There’s this radical parenting technique we use, very few parents these days use it, called teach your kids not to destroy every damn thing they touch. More parents should try it.
I clean the interior of my truck maybe every 18 months, and we take my truck 99% of the time as a family, yet my cloth seats look factory damn fresh.
We spent the day at my sister’s house with her hellion, so I’m a bit charged up on the topic.

There are people who love cats; my brother is one. I am more partial to dogs, though if it were up to me, I’d have none of them. My wife has two dogs and I feed them and poop them and play with them, but they’re her dogs. A hobby, of sorts, for her.

I like dogs too. I like other people dogs. I can play with them a little, and then go home and not have to take care of a dog. That’s one thing I like about cats, they’re so much less maintenance. Although, if I were left to my own devices, I wouldn’t have a cat either.

Speaking of Dog People: My wife’s dog Doggie is lovable enough, but has at most a one-track mind. Sometimes less than that. In earlier days, Doggie wouldn’t hear me calling her because she’d be out dumpster diving somewhere when I took her for a walk. She was a street dog before we got her, after all. So I bough a shock collar. The collar had a beep option and a beep was sufficient to get Doggie to jump three feet in the air and and get 100% of her one track focused on finding me. It was a good system.
Anyhow, I met this woman one day who was out with several dogs of her own and she asked me if I’d ever tried the collar on myself. My immediate reply: “No, because I always come when my wife calls me and I don’t eat cat poop.”

She is awfully bushy/thick coated, without being longhaired like a Maine Coon or Norweighan forest cat. those are just... magnificent to touch.
Yeah, my other lady cat turns homicidal when hungry. nobody goes near the food bowl or within 3 feet without a facefull of claws if she’s not done eating yet..

Hammer isn’t food aggressive like that, he nibbles a little throughout the day, and while it irritates him when our nearly 2-year old starts messing with his food bowl (we’re working on that!), he just stands back and gives me a, “Daaaaaad, make her stop” look. He’s insanely patient with the kids. The few times we’ve tried to put him on a diet though, he stats jumping up on and getting into everything and nipping at our ankles, anything to get our attention.
