Brother and Sister in law have been looking for a new family ride- to replace their mk4 Jetta. They wanted third row, awd, Pilot or Highlander.

Kinja'd!!!

Today we got a call that they had sold the Jetta and then bought a Pilot that had been traded into the local Mercedes dealer.. 120k km, 2006, good price, good exterior colour.

Just one thing;

I’ve known people with the last 3 generations of Pilot - from that one to the current. All dead reliable and very happy with them. All with much less frightening interiors though...

Lol, agreed, mother in law has an 08. It’s been great. It’s way to big for our tastes, but they love it.

You know, I’m wondering if that was priced at a discount due to the interior colors. If so, then good on them!

On the plus side, they won’t have to decorate the inside of the car for Halloween!

Side note: I put 2 car seats in a MK IV Jetta once. It was awful.

We had an 07 Pilot and it was great. We put almost 85,000 miles on it without ever having a single issue. Kind of impressive really.

They also move. Like, way more than a giant 3 row Honda should.

We mainly dumped ours because it was FWD and we planned on moving up north. The fwd was useless in snow (when we were up in NJ for a year and got an inch or two it couldn’t even get out of our flat driveway, meanwhile our fwd volvo S60 didn’t even know there was snow on the ground)

Other than that Interior, they should love it.

It’s funny I’ve driven the 08 a lot on the parents’ farm, 35km into town on straight AB gravel range roads, they even have a/t tires on it.. It never felt planted on gravel, could ever get it over 80km/h, always correcting and twitchy out back. Nothing like our Subaru, and even our DCLB Tacoma runs as fast as you want to go on those same gravel roads.

After the Pilot we got a 2016 Outback and the difference in just daily driving is crazy noticeable.
