It would be nice if VW buses were a reasonable price. Also, amazing cropping skills, kinja.

Just sad how a the bus, a symbol of freedom and poverty in media up until 2000-something, is now a symbol of wealth.

Agreed! Anything less than $10k needs $20k to make it road worthy and fix the holes

I think the replacement is the Astro/Safari. If I get a travel van at some point, that’s a very likely candidate. I’d love a bus, but you can’t even get a Vanagon in half decent shape for reasonable money.

There are still a few gems out there, time, rust, and dubious previous owners have taken their toll. The survivors now are mostly either not worth saving, or the money has been spent and need to be recouped.

You need to find the modern equivalent- I’m thinking rav4/crv.. cheap, reliable, carry four people and some gear, run forever..

I know they aren’t what the used to be, price wise especially, but I’ve loved them since I was a kid. I hope to have one someday, however unlikely

Can you weld?

There are a lot sitting around waiting for new doglegs.. If you don’t mind a project aircooled dubs are still hard to beat.

I hope your happy with yourself.

You’ve got me looking at T2 campers on autotrader (and carandclassic, bloody 100+ of the damned things).

Found this for £55,000 with trailer. 1975 Camper with 1978 camper trailer.

Not at all, but I’ve considered going to school for it. It would be a really good skill to have.

There is a 5 week welding course at the uni here, evenings, twice a week.. all you need to bring are gloves.. I have considered it.
