...and I’m on my way into the office. They changed my shift on the weekends to start at 2:00 yet still get off work at the same time. All month. And I don’t even get to work inside the office, but out of an old bus converted into an office.
After several weeks of one day weekends I’m taking three days next week. The first thing I’m doing is turning off every phone...

Dispatcher for the paratransit division of a public transit agency. This month I have the 0300-1200 shift on weekends after a month of doing that on weekdays. At least I get paid for the extra hour, but it feels like adding insult to injury.

Oof. I feel ya. I used to work weekend overnights, too. 4pm - 4am. But at least I could blast music as loud as I wanted. :)

The office is usually filled with cameras to monitor our every action but I don’t know about our party bus. I have my iPod just in case...

You used to work night shift on weekends? Mind if I ask what you used to do?
Apart from ruining my sleep schedule, I used to like night shift. No one from the office bothered me, no visitors, it made life easier.

They’re doing construction inside so we got the boot. And it’s snowing right now, so it’s a little chilly in here. I don’t know if we’re going to be here 6-7 weeks or 6-7 months...

I survived. It wasn’t that bad and I made a few extra bucks. We found a space heater and it made things a bit more tolerable. The first hour was just conversation with a co-worker; it was nice to sit around and get paid for it. Tomorrow should be even quieter, with about a third fewer trips and none going to dialysis units, just the 50,000 trips to various churches.
