The amount of tree and stampage used to collect three dollars and seventy-five cents from my wife is certainly impressive.

Good Lordy Washington. Luckily you all have plenty of trees. I’ve seen shows on how many trees you all have.

I ALMOST did. But what’s there to hide? I’ve posted all my license plates and I live in Everett. I am also the only person with a red ‘80 pickup and a blue Tercel wagon.

Well luckily we grow trees quickly in the south. GP and International paper are based in Atlanta and Memphis respectively.

I have found it odd that we’ve never crossed paths, given how close my work is to LynnHood. But you drive a silver Accord and I drive a fleet Taco.

A toll road opened near me even though the entire stretch wasn’t finished yet and even though they hadn’t set up the automatic toll payment system, nor were there any actual toll booths to pay someone in person. Yet, they still had all these signs about using your TxTag to pay for it, or you could pay by mail, but there was an additional $1.50 charge to pay by mail. The toll itself was $1. They’d mail you the bill and give you a week to pay it or face fines. Like a  month (maybe it was 2-3, but still) after the toll road opened, a press release went out that warrants were being issued for people who were delinquent on paying their tolls. For a system that made it as hard as possible to actually pay it.

Head desk. Repeatedly. Forever.

Are you implying it’s a completely corrupt institutional scam to generate revenue? Because I feel like that’s what you’re implying!

You’ll recognize me by the two stickers I have in the top right-hand corner of my back window. An Oppo sticker on top of a Blipshift sticker.

I had something similar when I cashed out some stock options from a company I used to work for ( only about $2k worth). After all was said and done I had $.02 left in the brokerage account. They literally sent me a check for $.02 to finally close out that account. Ridiculous. $.49 postage plus the cost of printing the check, paper and envelope probably added up to about $.75 to mail me $.02. I told them to donate it to their office coffee fund, but they could not do that......

I only have autobiographical stickers on one of my vehicles. But if you ever see a silver facelifted first gen pontiac Vibe with plastic hubcaps and sport skirt, there’s a 2% chance it could be me!

Maybe!

Ostensibly, it was built to funnel commercial traffic between a couple of ports and get them off the regular commuter traffic freeways, because truckers need more shit to worry about like paying fees while they’re on the clock. But Texas freeways pretty much always have frontage (access) roads that run parallel to them for their entire lengths. With 55 mph speed limits, the frontage roads are almost as fast as the 65-75 mph freeways they’re next to. So the truckers have primarily just been sticking to the frontage roads for as long as they can before getting on the toll road. Whoever is in charge of planning has finally been wising up to that and is cutting off frontage road access as the toll road’s construction continues.

“...though they hadn’t set up the automatic toll payment system, nor were there any actual toll booths to pay someone in person. Yet, they still had all these signs about using your TxTag to pay for it...”

The automatic toll payment system wasn’t up and running.

It didn’t become operational until a YEAR after the toll road opened.

The university IT folks used to send itemized paper monthly statements out for every VOIP phone on campus. One had to certify that every off campus call was university related and get a department heads signature before returning it. If personal calls were made, we had to reimburse the university in cash or check. The one time I had to pay them I taped 16 pennies to statement as my response to absurdity. Finally last year folks at the top realized how much time and effort was being spent on this and told the IT folks that do the phone system on campus to find something else to do with their time.
