Mac & Cheese? Yep, I can do that.

As it is currently the Lenten season, and us being Catholic and all, my son asked what we’ll be having for dinner. Plan A was to go to our church fish fry and eat till our hearts content. However, the hour + wait time squashed that idea. Taking a page from a prior post this week, I stepped up my game and am currently baking a full casserole dish of home-made Mac & Cheese. No meat, because, well, that would defeat the purpose. But, I’m thinking it will be as good, if not better than, what was presented here earlier.

Of course, my 14 year old son will eat just about anything I put in front of him.

Sitting in a diner right now enjoying fish cakes and Mac and cheese. I’m not even Catholic.

That is entirely appropriate, as now is the time to enjoy such foods. It’s amazing how many restaurants I go to, and they have no meatless options on the menu on Friday, during Lent. Especially pizza joints with lunch buffets. I usually have to ask for a cheeze & mushroom pizza.

I’m in the Northeast, I struggle to find meat options this time of year on Fridays. And when I did find them I get weird looks for ordering them. Haha.

Us too. We do the M&C thing, often with square fish, which I can eat with enough ketchup.

I ended up in London one year on Good Friday, and I was psyched because I knew I’d be able to find a good Indian place for a change. Indian is one of those cuisines where you can leave out meat and never miss it.

I’d say throw some broccoli in it but a 14-year-old probably wouldn’t eat it then.

Sometimes you just have to sacrifice to atone for a multitude of sins

Shoot, this 30-year-old wouldn’t touch it.

In my defense, the fact that President Bush the First also wouldn’t touch it got me out of eating SO MUCH GROSS BROCCOLI as a kid. And that’s a much, much older dude (who also knows that broccoli is gross and evil).

I don’t know what excuse kids use now. You can’t cite the eating habits of a dude who puts ketchup on a steak.
