I’m shopping for a truck and I might go check this one out. What do yall think?

Ad: 06 Frontier

History: Carfax

I think its a bit overpriced, but it checks all the boxes I’m looking for and its a stick shift too! The fender flares and graphics are tacky af and would have to go.

Ya those graphics and the flares are hideous. Never noticed the split rear windows on these!

Nissan truck -no. Just about anything else is better.

The stick on bolts and graphics package indicates either a fastidious old gentleman who was kind to his truck, or someone who thinks oil should change intervals are a plot by the oil companies.

LOL. Did you see where OP lives? All the Toyotas up here have the iron oxide weight reduction mod.

Idk, around that price range I’m not sure what I would get besides a Toyota or Nissan pickup. Going to a full-size isn’t some people’s bag.

My dad drives a Frontier. I don’t like the ride at all. And I’m not sure I’d pay $15k for an ‘06 when a new one is about $20k.

Good point. It’s easy to forget comparing a used car to a new one but makes a lot of sense when the pricepoint is so similar.

Is another $5k worth getting a current model year plus warranty and possibly service maintenance contract?

I’d like to know where you can buy said $20k brand new crew cab 4x4 truck

What exactly are the boxes you’re trying to check?

that puke on the side needs to go. Probably a bit overpriced, but the mileage is low so there’s the premium. If those flares are stick on easy fix. I’d walk if there’s holes.

yep you hit the nail on the head. I don’t want a fullsize truck because I live right near downtown Cincinnati. Parking and maneuvering one around here sucks.

The Tacoma tax is brutal around here on the newer Tacomas and there are no old cheap ones because of the rust. So that really just leave the Frontier or the Colorado

Well, I think this particular truck is worth more like 12k.. Also, 20k won’t get me a V6, crew cab, and 4x4, but you have a valid point. It’s something I’m considering.

No, you’re right. I overlooked that part. It’s about $25k for a V6 manual. I’d still pay the extra 10 to get 10 more years of useful life. But, I buy and keep a car for as long as it goes. Not all people hold onto cars like that.

Yes yes, those things as well. Some makes/models seem to hold surprising resale value. Arguably, might be better to get certain ones new. Which and why though, that might be a bit past my area of expertise. Glad to see its a consideration.

Needs: Mid-size truck, crew cab, short bed, V6(or I5)

Nice to haves: 4x4, Manual trans

I’m willing to spend up to $15k, but I’d rather stick closer to $10k if possible

Naturally I zeroed in on these:

1

2

But damn, for a truck everyone loves to hate these things are hanging onto value. So many 150k+ examples going for $11k+.

I think the Nissan/Toyota route is the only way you’re getting all the boxes ticked though. These’ll get you Crew+4x4, manual+4x4 or Crew+manual, but I don’t recall ever seeing one with all 3 boxes checked off. Though I’d love to be proven wrong.

I was shocked to see that the price of Colorados was right there with the Frontier. I’ve yet to drive any of them, but I actually like the Nissan’s styling the best. And the Frontier I posted is a crew+4x4+V6+manual so I was pretty stoked to see the full combo

based on its condition and relatively low miles I’m hoping its the former
