The gloom doesn’t bother me as much as how damn cold it’s been, yet me being so close to the water, haven’t seen ANY damn snow. All the downsides of the temperate and none of the benefits.

Here on the other side of the mountains we’ve had snow on the ground since early December. It’s been one long crappy winter full of snow and more freezing rain than I can ever remember.

My position is that the Washington driving test should be going over Snoqualmie pass in snow on bald summer tires. Did I mention I hate traffic?
South is OK if you take the coast from Westport down to Astoria. Bellingham is a great spot, the run along Chuckanut Drive is awesome.

Whereabouts are you? I’ve been getting videos from friends at WSU all winter... Looks miserably cold. I go camping around Potholes State Park occasionally. Last time I was there I woke up to 7 inches of snow and had to dig my Miata out

Seattle area is getting really expensive - rents/house prices are crazy. There’s a new apartment building across the street from us - right on the freeway, 15 miles to downtown. 2BD/2BA = $2300. House we’re renting our landlord bought for $400K year before we moved in (2013). He could sell it for more than double today. Everyone is taking the money and running to Idaho and Oregon.

I would love that as part of the test if no other cars were out and I could drive irresponsibly. Westport is probably my favorite place along the coast of Washington, although it’s been years since I’ve been that far. Normally stick to East for adventures. Highway 2 between Monroe and Wenatchee has so many hidden gems

I’m in Spokane and it has been miserably cold. Most of the storms have been relatively normal but the snow hasn’t melted until recently. Usually we get melt offs through winter. We also get the bonus of a bumper crop of pot holes. They’re fucking HUGE.

As mentioned, it’s crazy expensive in some parts, but if you have someone local who can help you can find nice places for reasonable amounts. Honestly I can’t recommend this place enough. Absolutely beautiful, you’ve got vastly different seasons and you can go from Ocean, to Lake, to rainforest, to urban city, to desert, to the snowiest Mountain in the world in half a days drive. Plus, the Seattle area is known for having the best roads in the country in terms of repair.

Yep I had this POS Buick Century Wagon when I first moved here. I couldn’t fathom how people with nice cars could get stuck. Westport is awesome - it’s been a long time since I’ve been out there too - the kids aren’t really up for the “gee it’s Saturday and I’m bored, let’s put 300 miles on the car” days.

How many sunny days do you get on average? There’s a good possibility we may move your way (offices in Fed Way and Tacoma) but my wife is worried we’re gonna miss the sun. We’re in Denver where it’s mostly sunny some of the time.

We almost always get that summer, best summers in the world are here.
It has been awful the past 5 months or so - long stretches colder than average, and ~50% above usual rainfall rates both monthly/yearly/rain season.
