I was sold even before the Hammond came in. I’m one of the few people who has heard other songs by the Trashmen than Surfin’ Bird, and I’m big into Link Wray and the Duals and some of the other forgotten guys of early rockabilly like Bert Weedon. My favorite more modern“nobody has heard of them ever” surf band is the Penetrators, as below:

I may live in Ohio now but I used to live by the beach. Surfed from 8 yrs until 45. All surfing music has been a part of my life. I still have original Beach Boys albums from 60s that I got for Xmas. Also some Jan and Dean, Dick Dale etc . On some internet search on Last-FM I’ve even found some good obscure surf music. One was a Japanese group and I think they were the Takayama Suf Dragons or something like that. I’d have to be home on PC to find it. There were also a couple of Vegas based surf guitar groups that I got some tracks from. The E-Music website has some decent obscure shit.

btw, I wasn’t just a pseudo surfer. When not on East coast I traveled to Baja K38, K55s, Rosarita beach, Blacks , Trestles, San Onofre, Imperial Beach, Cardiff, Oceanside harbor and others. Have been in the water with Nuuhiwa, Margo Oberg, Rory Russell, Buttons,all The Bronzed Aussies and other legends. Surfed Hurricane Bell at Wrightsville beach back in the day at about 25'. I was one of 4 guys that could make it through the breakers that day in the Shell Island area and stay out for more than an hour. I lasted from sun up until noon. I miss surfing.
