I have trees in my yard, and squirrels live in our neighborhood.

Kinja'd!!!

They move between yards on fences and powerlines, and they drive Toby insane.

He wants to kill them so badly, and the Chihuahuas could care less.

We have two dogs: the hound hunts and tracks the animals in the backyard (mice, squirrels, birds), the husky goes in for the kill. So I completely sympathize with your situation.

.177 air rifle. With dogs, the squirrels will usually freeze in the tree and make for an easy target. If you shoot straight up at a high angle, there ’ s no danger from the falling projectile because it ’ s tiny. Seriously, I don ’ t mess around with rodents. Squirrels are the #2 causes of house fires (after smoking). Plus your dogs might enjoy the snack — just use the steel pellets and not lead. DIFFICULTY: It ’ s almost nesting season, so don ’ t shoot them in the spring or you could leave a nest of babies in your house to die (inhumanely) and stink.

I don’t think Toby hates them. He probably just loves the idea of killing them.

He is just making sure the squirrels follow natures law and stay in the trees where they belong.

My old German Shepherd dog couldn’t tell the difference between squirrels and chihuahuas...
