A multipiece thing. It was used, but in great shape and just needed a lil’ cleaning. It was also quite expensive. As a result, my wallet is sleeping with the fishes. I present to you a Roland TD-30K kit

I would love to have an electronic kit. I never get to play anymore with a wife and kid in the house.

Very swanky. I know next to nothing about E-kits, so I just took the time to look up a video on it. I see that you can full retard Neil Peart with four more pads, too.

*MY* wallet is sleeping with the fishes because of buying some culvert to do some flat area expanding. Shit’s expensive, yo - though not as expensive as this.

That is awesome. I had a Yamaha setup quite a while ago. I still want to get another electronic setup again and set it up in the basement. Fumbling around with a guitar is fun, but drums are my first love.

Moving to a townhome did it. My acoustic kit is now tucked away under the stairs. :(

I am quite impressed with how good it “sounds” and how it reacts to inputs. That is the reason I went to a mid to high end kit. The control unit alone accounts for most of the $$.

I can’t believe I found them on Craigslist and it was legit too. hahaha

I was amazed at how completely unnatural it could sound. Joking aside, it seems to have some very good simulation - good tom sounds, etc. - when it’s not in Silly Mode of one kind or other. Also, the heads appear to have excellent reactions to things.

IT wouldnt be an electric kit without some cheesy sounds.

The mesh heads are simply OK. Its almost too easy to do rolls n’ stuff. (not very realistic)

I donated mine after I bought a real kit. As much as I appreciated the electronic set, I just couldn’t replace the feedback and emotion of actually playing the drums.

Excellent find. I fooled around with a drum kit at one point, but didn’t stay with it.

I’m still hunting around for an inexpensive (read: PLEASE TAKE IT OFF OUR HANDS PLZ!!!11!one!) digital organ. The problem is that it’s easy to find a two manual that doesn’t work, and I’m playing a three manual console now. Those are still more moneys than it takes to drive to the church to practice.

Somewhere around Oppo is a picture of me playing.

You fucker. I want one of those so bad. I have my Mapex down in the basement but cant really play it often due to kids. Some day.

What are your impressions of it? I’ve been thinking about getting an electronic kit to keep my chops up. With kids now I haven’t been able to keep my kit up at home or make noise at night, really the only time I have to practice. But I’ve been playing for 32 years so I’m a little picky about feel and sound, and the older E-kits I’ve tried just didn’t do it for me. I know they’ve come a long way though, so I’ll keep an open mind.

I love the different kit sounds and the ambiance settings. Rim shots, chokes, sustain, cymbal sizzle, etc. are all there in the kit. It’s clear that a lot of programming went into trying to make it respond/sound as real as possible.

However, I’m definitely not thrilled about the feel of the toms or snare. The snare is probably the worst because its way too easy to do rolls and ghost notes compared to an acoustic kit. Its definitely unnatural. There are also times I feel like I “bottom out” on the tom heads.

The tall, thick rubber rims on the snare and toms gets in the way too.

Overall, I do feel the price is a bit heavy but there is a lot of potential in the kit. The control module itself also has soundboard-like inputs and outputs. Its great.
