Kinja'd!!!

It’s been a while since I’ve been to a house with this many individual rooms. Including nine bathrooms. NINE. But it does have a 5-car garage, so it gets my seal of approval*.

(*Meaningless seal of approval may not meet code in your municipality)

when you want a big house but dont want to pay for a capable architect. I’d put money down that the wife went on pinterest and pulled up her top 10 favorite houses and circled her favorite part of each one and said put this all into one house. While the house is impressively large, the designer did not give one damn about proportions. It looks like someone sat on those gambrels

sorry its been a rough day

So...many...gambrel...roof...arches....

Why! Why did you need that many angles! God almighty, is it not enough just to haphazardly throw together mismatched pitch on gables and eaves, but they needed a certain Dutch flair now too, eh?

Symmetry isn’t really “in” these days. Remember, no one would be designing houses here this way if people weren’t buying them. Transplants LOVE this stuff.

Holy hell that is ugly! Just because you put a bunch of gambrel roofs on a place, does not make it “charming” or, “County chic” or whatever the hell HGTV would call this.

Clyde Hill?

This is ground zero for money laundering from a few places, this could be a show house for a fleeing kleptocrat, or just a place to park money before it is sold again in 10 months. Bathrooms could be a bizarre status symbol.

Clyde Hill is scary. Yarrow Point had a vibe of stealth wealth and older money, but every house in Clyde Hill is of extreme excess and the I have found the people there nine times out of ten to be largely awful and condescending.

all the window heights look different on the second floor. the ones to the left look higher than the ones near the entry, the ones in that rectangle thing are higher, and the ones on that end garage are low. Also hows the rain/snow drain from between the house and that garage? it looks like a valley right there.

The funny thing about Clyde Hill is much of it was little postwar bungalows for a long time, amusing to see what they sold for when new and how little they were worth even 30 years ago. Some people won a lottery (and it won’t be repeated). Now those 1200 sq ft houses on 6000 sq ft lots are coming to an end, all replaced by 5000 sq ft cardboard ‘n plywood mcmansions on the same lots, and Stepfordian higher end SUVs everywhere.

Ah yeah Yarrow Point, slipped my mind. It is pretty mellow, wider streets and often people out walking. Definitelt older money, and overall less pretentious houses. I cruise through that area when I take my old car out, as traffic is light and the car fits in.

I’m not offended, I don’t design, or work with, anything you see in the photos (minus my Tacoma I suppose).

Unrelated story: years ago I met a project manager on site (who was also the architect), and he went on a rant on how the locals were calling the townhomes he was building “ugly” to his face. “That’s fucking rude. How would they feel if I, a total stranger, stormed in their office, slammed my fists on their desk, and told them THEIR work sucked? That whatever THEY did for a living was awful and ugly?!?!?” I’ve never fogotten that.

There will be maybe one chandelier. The interior is not at all gaudy and everything is very functional, vs flashy. Even the master bathroom has a simple layout. Most new homes of this size will make the master suite take up half of the goddamn house.

I lived in a house with 6 bathrooms, 6 bed rooms all alone with a German shepherd and a los apso dog. Built in 1907 so there were ghosts too. 10/10 would do again. It didn’t have a garage, apparently the house across the street was a carriage house.
