OK, I took my car in to the dealer for an oil change. Yes it’s lazy. Yes, I could do it myself. No I don’t want to deal with all of that. And doing the first few oil changes at the dealer gets a service record established.

When I pulled up, the first question from the serive advisor wasn’t “has your car been here before” or “can I get your name/phone number for the paperwork”, it was “which lowering springs did you go with?”

It turned out that the advisor had been at the Autocross this past weekend, and we even ran in the same heat, though he didn’t remember seeing my car. I’m not sure how he missed the only blue mustang out there for the day, but whatever.

then their showroom had some interesting cars, including this 1968 Fastback Mustang.

They had a Rousch Stage 3 Mustang GT with a $10k “market adjustment” marked on it, and the only Focus RS they had was black with a $5k markup. This is not the dealer I bought from. They’re simply the one I drive past on my way home from work, so I’m using them for service. they never seem to carry anything with a manual transmission, so I’m not likely to ever buy anything from them.

Gorgeous car. I’d find reasons to stop by just to visit it.

Some time ago I was preparing to do an oil change on my wife’s Explorer. I priced the oil and a new filter. Then I saw that the dealership was offering to do the oil change plus top off the fluids and rotate the tires for $10 more than the supplies I was about to buy. Easy decision.
