GENEVA 2017: I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around the '17-spec Audi RS5 DTM

It starts right there in front. They cut the grille in half and made the top half a sticker. WTF?

And then look at the hood. The extractors are brutalistic. The side skirts have fins on them!

Now you’re looking at the back end of the thing and...it’s less insane. I mean, barring the rear fenders it looks tamer than the rest of the car.

I could go on about how the airflow goes round here, but really, all I wanna say is that DTM, Super GT, STCC, Trans-Am TA2, and Turismo Carretera should overlap.

Now I’m really curious as to how BMW and Mercedes will respond.

The top half of the grille is blocked because they are regulated to the size and shape of the radiator opening. The RS6 is just a shell over a dedicated racing chassis.

DTM cars have extremely little to share with their production cousins. They resemble more LMP cars. They have a carbon fiber monocoque chassis wearing some bodywork as disguise. The chassis looks like this.
