I was watching it because I’m seriously considering it as my next purchase. I was originally thinking I’d get a really small tube amp, but I’m not sure that I can push one hard enough to sound good, yet be really quiet for playing at night.

What other amps have you been looking at? If you’re wanting really small tube amps I remember seeing a few good 1 and 5W options out there when I was looking myself, off the top of my head I remember reading really good things about the Blackstar HT1 and Bugera V5 in particular. Something that low-wattage might be able to be driven hard enough to get breakup without annoying your neighbors.

Those are the ones I’ve been looking at, but I’m concerned they even they would be too loud. The only time I really have to play is after my son goes to bed so I have to keep things below 75db or so. Unfortunately none of my local stores carry either, so I can’t go play one and see.

Yeah that’s a tough one, could always try to find an amp (tube or otherwise) that has a headphone jack if you’re really trying to keep the volume down. My crappy old Acoustic one and that’s pretty much the only way I can play in my apartment, though I will say through headphones the tone isn’t as good as it would be coming out of the speaker (not sure if that’s true of all amps with headphones or just me though).
