Kinja'd!!!

How do you get a car into that third bay? Or is it just for storage? Either way, it doesn’t look great.

It’s only for vespas, clearly.

Even with a Vespa or motorcycle, I’d be very worried about that squeeze.

Drive into bay 2, jack car up, drop onto dollies, push sideways into bay 3?

Your guess is as good as mine.

Wow, that’s pointless.

I think that might even be worse than people converting a garage to living space.

Another seven figure zero lot line 416 manse built of the finest plywood, foam, and brick veneer?

Step one, remove that ugly retaining wall and the dirt behind it.

Yup. Waiting for it to blow over with the slightest breeze.

Not only can you not get a car into the garage, but you also lost driveway parking. This is absolutely stupid!

The wall was there before the third garage door, if I remember correctly.

Although it would make more sense to have that garage bay as a loving space than to use it for a car right now.

It’s pretty windy today, so i’m kind of expecting a repeat of last Wednesday/Thursday.

You’ve got it! I’m thankful to live in a house built in the 1960s. Granted, there are a few quirks, but it’s a solid house.

I suspect even the cheaper houses of 50 years ago would be considered high quality today, and impossible to build at a reasonable price. New ones may have better glazing and insulation, but that might be it.

You might be right with that. Better electrical is really the only thing I want from this house.

My girlfriend’s dad recently built a house for himself and his wife, and holy hell that thing is sturdy. I guess it depends on who’s building it.

Oh yeah, electrical. Easier to upgrade than structure anyway.

I suspect owner-built houses are better than speculator grade stuff slapped together in a few days. I am also in a bubble area, and am sometimes amazed with the speed of construction. Probably doesn’t bode well for the future - I predict leaks.

I spent about 6 months living in a house that was build in 1908. The electrical was terrifying.

We can’t turn on the microwave and have the kitchen lights on at the same time, or else the fuse will blow. But hey, the house is wired so that we could have fourteen phone lines into the house!

So many phone jacks! Like 1 outlet in each room! #justoldhousethings
