Kinja'd!!!

As I do some final touchups on my XJ Looked back on on the vehicles I’ve owned since I climbed into that Taurus back in 2013.Of all of my cars I’m about to do a repeat, a backpedal if you will. I’m trading my 1987 Jeep for a 1985 2.3 Mustang. and I’m happy.

Kinja'd!!!

Last year I had to sell my 1986 notch and I’ve seen it pop up on my local FB sales groups for an insane price, I miss it. I love to drive, but I don’t necessarily have to go fast. my jeep gets 12/17 MPG on a good say. I got 22/22 in my old coupe. The only thing I miss about the XJ would be it’s ability to power up the many hills of lynchburg VA without a blink and it’s classic styling that got me many a jeep wave. I will miss the little quirks that made Renix Xj’s special. The random french interior touches from the old Renault/AMC alliance and it’s interesting electrical setup. I will get another XJ in the future when I can afford two vehicles again

Kinja'd!!!

the deal isn’t final yet, but we’re meeting up thursday at his local DMV.

I’m a ford guy at heart, Jeeps have strangely crept into my heart because I have a small tinge about letting it go, but I would like to experience an SJ before i buy another XJ.

I like carbed 2.3 foxbodys and I’m not ashamed about it.

I like heavy (for their segment) cars. When I heard about the Lexus RC or NSX or GT-R being “too heavy,” I became far more interested. When Ford revealed the GT was heavier than planned it caught my interest. Guess I’m a chubby chaser. I like my cars weighing one class up but driving one class down. That’s a proper grand tourer!

Considering I own 3 Honda Preludes, I’ll go with that.

I’ve had two “repeat” vehicles in my life.

My first car, a 1989 Chevy R1500 Suburban, was replaced by a 1990 GMC V2500 model. It was even the same colors! But the GMC had 4WD and was in much better overall shape.

A few cars later, I found myself driving a $600 1994 Cougar. But it had the NA V6, which sucked. I replaced it with a 1996 V8 Thunderbird. Big improvement!

If you can deal with RHD you could import one. They’re pretty cheap compared to a lot of other JDM imports coming in.

If I imported a Honda it’d be a Beat, or SiR CRX. I’m not actually a huge fan of Preludes. It’s one of those cars that bugs me because they look RWD but aren’t. Like the MX-6/Probe, or Dodge Daytona.

Hot take: I don’t really care about drive wheels as long as the suspension is set up well.

Me neither. I love FWD cars. It just I think they should look like they are FWD. the long hood, the space betweeen the front wheel well, and door, and the short rear end all denote, to me, a RWD car. I mean the original intention of the FWD platform was to make the front end shorter.

It’s like it’s trying to lie about what wheels are driving, like it’s ashamed it’s FWD, and wants to go drift with the S classics.

It’s a silly thing but it’s the reason I’ve always favored the Civic over the Lude.

that particular bug, yes....... about a month ago i bought a PAIR of modelT SIGHT UNSEEN, both 27 tall t one a pickup, and one a coupe, that i am going to go and round up here very soon. they have been in a barn and are supposed to be “mostly complete”. so the bottom model t picture is an approximate........ ONE of the T is going to become a 4wd, LOW underslung frame, manual transmission, divorced transfer case, v8, WIDE tires, model T....... just gotta see where they stand shape wise......

the T is the next BIG project, after i finish out the bug, which is CLOSE to being done.......

Agreed. The best one is a ‘74 Talisman. That was the only year with those majestic split back seats in Medici velour. I’ve seen really nice ones for about $25k, which I’d happily spend on this instead of a Civic. My only gripe is that Lincolns of the era were much better-looking, but the interior definitely wasn’t on this level. The ever-essential velour is also even harder to find on those.
