Academy at West Point for Mercedes leadership training. So I’ll be in New York for a week in April. Actually kind of excited. As usual we’re put up in a nice hotel and have excellent meals provided to us. Never been to NY before so it should be interesting at least.

My high school in the rich suburbs of DC was slightly less rich than some of the neighboring high schools. Its initials were RM.

A kid who lived across the street from me bought a hat that read:

GO ARMY
WEST POINT

He selectively removed letters until he got:

GO RM
WE PO

I loved that hat.

Cool. Will do. Don’t have the exact dates nailed down yet, but should be first week in April, but not into the weekend.

Much deserved, well done bud. They’ll make you into a white shirt yet. I wouldn’t necessarily jump eagerly into management if I were to do it again, but it’s useful training to have and makes you more valuable to them. I’m sure you’ll nail it.

Lol if I find myself falling asleep I’ll just shout out “WHEN DO WE GET TO DRIVE THE TANKS!?”

They actually do a really good job with these atypical classes, rarely sleep inducing.

Sweet. And props to MB for being forward thinking on leadership training. When Apple was rolling out there stores they sent their sales people to some high end hotel (I forgot which company) for concierge training to give them another perspective on customer service. Pushing people to learn from out of the ordinary sources always pays dividends.

Thanks. Not trying to be a white shirt, it’s just required for team leads. I don’t even want to be a foreman. I’d rather move up to be field technical specialist.

Yeah for sure. This isn’t even the only class of its kind, this is just the one for management (I’m a technician team lead). There’s another one that every employee is supposed to go to, and these don’t even include all the “normal” training classes we have to do.

I’m going with another lead, and we’re thinking about taking an extra day to do some mountain biking in the area. Know of any good trails and places that rent bikes?

It’s cheap. But it’s cheap for a reason. Great, the suspension is “all” new. Does that include ball joints and bushings? It doesn’t appear to be in great condition. It has a light on the dash that in not even going to venture a guess at. It’s an early model, which will always be more problematic than a later one.

If the condition (assuming it isn’t better in person) doesn’t bother you, I still suggest a pre-purchase inspection. And be aware that you will probably spend it’s asking price in maintenance/repairs before the next two years are up.

There is nothing more expensive than a cheap S-class. For similar cars (early, highish mileage 220's), we often quote $2-4k just to make them safe. Plus another $2-6k to get them caught up on maintenance and less critical repairs. And we don’t even have rust issues here. A lot of that cost can be mitigated by doing your own work of course, and they’re not difficult to work on as long as you’re not easily intimidated and expecting Honda civic easy.
