With my son (6), he knows the anatomical name, but we colloquially refer to the area as “his equipment.” This is already starting to backfire every time he hears the word “equipment.” We also call farting “gassing” which is having similar results anytime someone mentions gas...

With one of each, it has quickly become whose equipment is “better.” I’m on bath duty about 75% of the time, which is occasionally a shared experience, but not much anymore...when it comes to showering with an adult, though, we’re firmly “same gender” to reduce a lot of additional layers of confusion :D
