My youngest daughter is having a “Technology Museum” exhibit at school today, and was asked to bring an old piece of technology to display and discuss. Being the tech savvy Gen Yer that I am, I don’t have a lot around the house to give her. BUT, we have the original NES my wife had and we recently found in her dad’s basement when we were cleaning it out after his passing last August.

Kinja'd!!!

I think it cleaned up nicely. I still don’t know if it works, its been sitting in OUR basement (in a milk crate full of games) since I brought it home against the wife’s will.... and yes, I also have the Light Gun. Didn’t think it was a good idea to send THAT to school with her.

If it comes home in one piece I might be tempted to hook it up, see if it’ll play that copy of Super Mario 3...

I prefer to take this in stride. We’re not old, it’s just that most children don’t have a part of ENIAC laying around the house.

To also help with feeling old: I was three or four when we got out N64. I’m now 22. As well, if the original Xbox was a human being, it would be old enough to drive this year.

I just hooked mine up to the TV in the extra room on Sunday. Techmobowl and Captain Skyhawk is all I have for now.

The Mario Bros I have is the 3 pack with Duck Hunt and that Olympics game for the floor pad. It doesn’t work doe no matter how hard I blow (lol)

I have to disagree. Gameboys had that little plastic tab to keep the cartridge from being removed with the power on in the event that one of your little bitch friends acted like a little bitch because they were losing like a little bitch. Also, Gameboy was single player, so you didn’t even need little bitch friends.

Went to the Henry Ford Museum a couple years ago... they had a “blueberry” iMac.

...like my school had for my first 4 years.

Nowhere near that NES, but still... If “you’re only as old as you feel”, right then I felt way too old. Part of my childhood is already in a museum.

True story, she asked me if the NES had WiFi.... I had to tell her the story of having to take THE ENTIRE CONSOLE to friends and family’s houses and on vacation to hook it up to thier TVs, because of no fancy built in screen like her 3Ds has.

I ’ m 38 and haven ’ t played video games at all since the early 2000s. We just bought an NES Classic (the $60 Nintendo console with 30 games pre - loaded) and I ’ ve been schooling my 6 - year - old in the finer points of Mario Brothers 1, 2, 3, as well as Zelda. Such a bonding moment. It ’ s like riding a bike — a bike that pisses you off because it can only go in 4 directions. Oh, those controllers are still indestructible.

I have an Odyssey, an Atari 2600, 2 NES, 1 SNES, and 1 Sega Genesis in my house currently. I know the 2 NES don’t run, not sure about the rest.

My gf wanted a NES Classic before she realized how hard they were to get, so I built an emulator machine on a Raspberry Pi 3 for her...which is currently hooked up to the entertainment system along with the XBox One and PS3.

I remember taking $136 I’d saved up in the late 80's to KMart in order to purchase my NES. It’s one of the two still in my house.

I had an Odyssey, then an NES, a Sega Genesis, PS1, PS2, Xbox 360, and now my Xbone.

There was a couple PC builds in there as well, but they were never hardcore gaming systems... but not many were in the late 90's/early 2000's. But the ROMs... oh, the ROMs.

My favorite was the NES rom, aptly named “NESticle”.

Some of those systems belonged to my gf’s brother, and I inherited them when he passed away.

I forgot about my PS1 and PS2...still have them as well. Sony was even good enough to repair my PS2 free of charge after it was out of warranty and wouldn’t read game disks or DVDs.

NESticle was the very first emulator I ever used, I remember it well. I do have to say I like the Raspberry Pi RetroPie build better though.

The last time I played the PS1 would’ve been early 2003, when Sony was repairing my PS2. I was rocking some WCW Thunder at the time.
