Kinja'd!!!

Battery on my s7 is FUBAR, havent even had it 2 months. Battery level suddenly dives randomly and it shuts off for no reason. I bet they’ll weasel out of the warranty. Luckily I’m good at phone repair and battery replacement on these is within my abilities but I’ll be out the cost of a battery. Hopefully they surprise me and warranty it.

Wow, that’s horsecrap. But I’m with you on the S7 not having the best battery life. I’ve had my phone unplugged for about two and a half hours, done some light browsing on it, recorded a video, and it’s already down to 90%. Yesterday it was down to 20% by the time I got home, when it used to be at 40% or 50% at the same time.

I mean, you bought a Samsung.

Have you dropped it?

I have had a HTC that did the same after a rather nasty drop. The battery needed re-calibration.

Look at this thread first, before doing anything else.

http://droidupdatez.blogspot.com/2016/04/fix-samsung-galaxy-s7-battery.html

The problem with such methods is that they are tapping into a battery potential that is hidden, so this will definitly affect long term capabilities. But it is better than a non-usable phone.

My immediate thought: “Wow, that’s a pretty drastic upgrade from a Twingo”

I had this issue until I updated to Nougat. Once I did that, most of my battery woes went away.

Since the update, It dies somewhere around 30% I think this might have to do with the properties of Li-ion batteries and not letting them drain to 0% before charging too much.

My S7 Edge that I’ve had for a year has pretty bad battery life too. I came from a Note 3 and was blown away that a newer phone with a “more efficient” processor and a bigger battery had WORSE battery life right out of the box than the 2.5 year old phone.

My nexus 5x gets atrocious battery life but nothing like that.

Kinja'd!!!

I enjoy having almost 40 hours of estimated battery remaining while under 70%. I’ve easily gotten 2 days with usual use. And even with running navigation and power hungry stuff, I’ll get through a whole day no matter what. Sony has done a great job here!

Had the same feeling coming to the S7 from an HTC One (M7). Somehow the battery life is worse than a 3.5 yo phone, and apps frequently feel stuttery. I do like the always on screen (which doesn’t seem too bad from a battery perspective), the waterproofing, and the wireless charging, but if the HTC’s camera and speaker phone weren’t broken, I’d probably switch back.

Mine used to be really decent, full day of heavy use was possible. Then in the last week this shit started going on.

I have had a couple drops but nothing severe on a hard floor.

Thanks I’ll take a look at that.

Well it was a safer bet than an iphone and it was my favourite android phone out of the competition.

DUDE. This. The stuttering kills me, it makes me want to throw the thing at solid objects.

I’m probably gonna switch back to an iPhone in a couple months. I’m disappointed I’ll have to, but I just want something functional.

Just like life I guess...lol

But I know what you mean, I’m growing weary of androids inconsistency. I’m really growing weary of technology in general. Everything seems so...unfinished these days...

Well how old is it and can you easily just replace the battery? Batteries do tend to have a pretty short lifespan. This is the only gripe I have with my phone, a non user replaceable battery. I am sure I could figure out how to do it but it will require tools and a risk of breaking it.

Its not technically user replacable, but I used to do phone repair on the side to make money and got pretty good at it. So cracking it open to change the battrry doesn’t concern me. I’d just prefer not to.

Yeah the annual release cycles cause some real issues. But nothing will change unless people vote with their wallets and only buy well thought out quality stuff. I’ll be considering my next phone purchase a bit more carefully.

I’m not getting a new damn phone because battery. I have an LG G3, which has a removable back, for like 25 bucks I bought a 6000 mAh battery with a modified back included. My phone now outlasts everyone and I don’t have to carry a phone charger with my whenever I go to an all day event. With my last phone I’d have to keep a 5000 mAh charger in my pocket almost all the time.

Oh and I bought the G3 used for like $120, lol.
