We were talking about our remodel which may or may not ever happen, struggling with the hefty price tag that is sure to come with trying to add about 400 square feet of stuff. We agreed on various forms of demoing to open up this cramped floor plan, but remain in conference about squeezing out more square footage and bedrooms. There’s a unnecessary wall that I want to knock out, expand our bedroom out 4+ feet, and then split it half for two secondary bedrooms. That leaves the issues of the new master suite. The preliminary plan was to add an entire master suite addition to the back of the bonus room.

But then my wife decided to suggest something obvious yet brilliant.

“I don’t know, why don’t we just turn the bonus room into the master bedroom?”
“... and just do a small addition of a master bathroom and closet instead?”
“Yeah, that sounds a lot less expensive, doesn’t it?”
“We can spend all the the leftover money on a driveway expansion and a new garage!”
“Sure, why not?”
