Hi Guys,

I’m currently in a Marketing Research class at uni and I would appreciate if you guys could take 10 minutes and fill this survey out for me. The survey is on budget airlines vs national carriers and all answers remain anonymous. Please follow the link. Thanks!

Done. You should allow for more choices on your demographics page. I fly for work and fun, with family, friends and co-workers.

Also, my airline wasn’t listed with the legacy carriers mentioned even though we are beating two of them pretty well in most metrics. ;)

United and American:

This means that they provide free food , reclining seats, free personal entertainment , more legroom , free checked and carry on bags, direct gate access to aircraft, customer service, and electrical outlets.

(And some of those others are iffy)

Done. I travel a lot, and fill out surveys from legacy carriers regularly — as f86sabre said, more categories would be good — especially breaking down travel frequency. They usually ask the number of pleasure trips/year, number of business trips/year, etc.

not really focused on demographics, I’m measuring something else. Thanks for taking the time to fill it out.

thanks for the input, those aren’t really the metrics I’m trying to measure but I see your point. Thanks for taking the survey!

Honestly, I don’t even mind much, in most cases I’d prefer to just do the flight cheaply. But the Legacy/Low-Cost differentiation often doesn’t make sense these days, even for flag carriers.

Yes, I feel the same. The only thing I think is crappy is charging for bags. If Southwest can give you two bags free and still make money, then so can American. Mostly though we’ve all gotten used to the no frills flying.

True, and it’s probably foolish since it leads to people trying to bring everything as carry-on, which just slows down everything. That said, I often find that Southwest is more expensive than United/American/Delta so free bags may not save you money.

Yeah, living next to American’s home airport helps with choices. Most of the time I get better choices with them except on Southwest’s business routes

I have an uncle who takes his bag to the gate knowing it won’t fit and that they will gate check it for free. So the policy just causes work for gate crews.
