Now my phone has space to breath.

I wish more phones came with expandable storage, especially now that netflix allows downloading of content to watch offline.

This post juxtaposed with Nibby’s post is the funniest thing today.

I find that the adoptable storage feature in Android 6 and higher is a bit of a mishmash. They say it’s supposed to act like internal storage but you still have to manually move apps to the SD card.

This is my storage status at the moment...

Not sure how exactly the downloading within Netflix treats the SD card.

This x1000. All phones should have this. WTF. My android had it, iphones never have. They charge insane prices for the difference between storage amounts, when a $10 microSD card is all you need. This angers me deeply.

I actually prefer not having cards and battery covers. Also, you can’t directly compare an SD card price to internal storage, because the internal storage tends to be faster. That being said, the prices Apple charges are insane. The differences should be $50 at most, not $100 for each jump.

The only other place I see people besides my family with Android phones is online; which phone is that? That amount of internal storage is appealing. My G5 has 32 built in and a 32 GB SD card.

Yeah, I’m in a demographic that’s like 95% iPhone, so other Androids besides Galaxies and LG phones are pretty foreign to me. I’ve thought about getting a 128GB or 256GB iPhone because I’m earning my own money, my G5 is having some issues, and iPhones work with more stuff. The big thing is that a lot of people with iPhones don’t have unlimited data, which I have (thank you mom and dad!), so there’s that.

I think it would be easy to make a slot like the sim card slot that is nearly invisible and has to be opened with a pin... and maybe it just serves as an image archive? That way things can be written direcly to internal memory for optimal speed, but then archived on the SD card as needed.

It’s because of the insane pricing that I especially wish you could add on a microSD to an iphone.

Good point. Actually yeah I have something like 40 GB of photos and video on my iPhone 7 that I’ve had for less than 6 months. If I could have 32 GB of storage for apps/data and a slot for a card that just did the camera roll that would be nice. Mainly, though, I just wish they wouldn’t gouge you so bad on the internal storage upgrades, so we could just get a 256 GB for the maybe $80-100 more than the base model (which should also come with 64 GB these days, but they are trying to keep it nudge people to upgraded iCloud accounts I think) Even though a microSD card is tiny, the slot and associated waterproof sealing take up space I’d rather have dedicated to a battery.

I think this is what it comes down to. So I just use Google Drive to backup photos and take them off once a year or so. Then trickle down to my series of external hard drives....
