This afternoon had the one good minute of weather in the past week that I’ve been trying to bring it home for.....Well, more like the one good bit of weather when the dealership was also open. And it *was* good weather until it HAILED on me on the ride home. I have to say - hail at 45mph when it’s about 50F out here is......disconcerting. But the bike is rock solid and rode home no problem. More pics and a proper ride review will come in a week or two. I threw a cover on it for now to protect it from the weather and to keep it safe while I’m away for the next week or so at a convention.

Congrats! Can’t wait for the ride review! I may have to review my monster 796...

Give me the 3000$ to bridge the cost gap and there could’ve been!

3K? who many miles did that 700 have?

9K is almost new money for those....I think our R will be leaving for like 5....maybe 5.5

None. It was a leftover 2015. Had all the electronics on it though. And some other options. “MSRP” was almost 11k. they marked it down to high 8s. Negotiations ade it so they’d do about 8800 OTD after their fees and whatnot.

FOund it. The price isn’t marked down on the website but this is the bike they have - http://mntnsr2z.50belowcommerce.com/2015-bmw-f700gs-inventory.htm?id=1703693&in-stock=1

They have an F800R from 2015 next to it too for a similar price which is actually reflected on the website - http://mntnsr2z.50belowcommerce.com/2015-bmw-f800r-inventory.htm?id=1697136&in-stock=1

ugh, I HATE the headlight on the newer F800r. much prefered the assymetrical one off mine.

but it has better forks. bleh.

I hate the asymmetrical headlight. But given that I’ll barely be looking at it it wasn’t nearly a dealbreaker compared to the price and financing terms...Namely that financing would be mandatory for the BMW (I don’t have 9k in toy money) whereas for the kawasaki it was optional (coulda paid cash for an older model but did a 1-year loan with a credit union to help build a relationship with them so I can then buy a house......it is a weak justification but it worked).

Nice!

Had a similar experience with my DR-Z, rode it home on a night where it decided to rain and hail just about as hard as I’ve seen in Oregon (It was less rock solid, scary speed wobble over 60 from the beadlockers)

I’ll be curious to hear your thoughts, I’ve been toying with picking one up and a long distance tourer.

I had a ‘89 KLR that I rocked for a few years... great bikes. I liken them to Willy’s Jeeps... Kinda slow, but totally sure-footed, with good fuel economy and pretty much bomb-proof. (I’m assuming Kawasaki finally fixed the doohickey...?)

They “did” but everyone still does it anyways. Forwhatever reason, buying this bike with a finance program form the credit union I picked means they put 500$ towards any warranty. And since this is a dual sport, they offered a 2-year warranty for 600? 650$? Which.....after 500$ becomes 100ish$. SO I took that. I figure I’ve got 2 years before worrying about the dohickey
