Reports of the death of my project have been greatly exaggerated

Kinja'd!!!

Crappy weather and other bits and pieces that needed doing means it’s only come along at a slow pace over the winter. Still, boxed in the other half of the chassis today :) just a couple of little corners and bits and pieces to weld then it’s officially a complete unibody Spitfire :)

Good stuff, I’m only hanging around here these days waiting for it to be finished so I can blag a ride :)

Haha! Might be hanging around a bit longer, but that ride’s not a problem ;)

I was planning to take it out for my retirement ;)

Nah, realistically it’s closer to done than I think. I’ve got 90% of the bits, and the last bits of welding are coming together now. I’ve also said that my mate can use it as his wedding car so I’ve been getting cracking :)

Arf. Retire early, retire often :)

Aren’t you going to need to have the whole thing painted, too? Or is that also DIY for you?

It is also DIY, but a right mission :S I remember painting just the bonnet of my old Jag and that felt like it took bloody ages so no idea how long it’s going to take to get this prepped inside and out :S

I might get a quote for a paint job just to check it out. If it isn’t monumentally expensive I might start saving for it now...

AFAIK painting it isn’t too expensive once you have to buy the paint anyway, but it’s the prep that’s the hard part.
