Drive into it.

This is why you’d need a bull bar.

I’d park in the space and move the bike onto the grass.

The other day I had to go to a pretty busy meeting. Saw a scooter taking up a space in the too small parking lot. Was about to be annoyed until I saw there was a second scooter parked in the space, too. So, at least they were trying.

Cyclists: cars when it’s convenient for them, pedestrians when it’s convenient for them.

I’d unceremoniously toss the bike over the hedge.

This is terrible, but not quite as bad as cyclists who run stop signs/lights because “car rules don’t apply to bikes”.

This is the correct answer.

The local cyclists here like to ride in the road next to the empty bike path.

I understand this to some degree - bike paths are usually limited to 12-15 mph and you’re less visible to folks turning across the path. On my old commute home from work I’d bomb the downhill in the road because I was usually going 30+ and it was a 4 lane road with little traffic and a 35mph speed limit. On the uphill when I was going 3-5 mph I’d ride on the path.

When I was at Georgia Tech, I saw a cyclist blow through a stop sign right in front of a cop. The cop light them up and gave them a ticket, it was sweet justice. I was driving around in the M3 with the widows down and this cyclist ran a red light as I was turning left, I don’t think he heard me yell “laws apply to you too motherfucker.”

That’s weird. Possible explanations: Upcoming left turn, debris in path, death wish. I’d say missed the entrance to the path, but that bike looks like it should be able to handle crossing a little stretch of dirt.

That’s not so bad. From the warning I was bracing to see a QX80 or Multipla or something. Bike is asking to get stolen, but otherwise is somewhat amusing.

To be honest, I’m guilty of this back in college. However in my defense, the bike paths/sidewalks were really rough, and riding a road bike on those surfaces tends to turn your spine into a wet noodle.

It’s legal, but also kinda silly. I’d rather have the extra safety of the bike path, if it’s there.

I can’t stand riders who don’t even slow for stop signs, but a number of places have added laws allowing cyclists to treat stop signs as yield signs and traffic lights as stop signs, and that does make sense to me. At the speed a casual rider is traveling they have plenty of time to ensure an intersection is safe to cross, and getting going from a dead stop (especially having to do it repeatedly) is exhausting, a real issue if you’re trying to travel a fair distance. When you’re on a bike and your tank is empty that’s it, you can’t just refuel and be on your way.

One of the few times I’d take a walmart bicycle over the car parked next to it:

If your car bumper can’t handle nudging the rubber of a bike tire, you’ve got bigger problems than a tumba burros will fix.

That’s not a cyclist, it’s a woman on a bike. Source, I’m a cyclist. In the context of her bike, clothing, and the road in this picture, she should be on the path. Also, why isn’t more space being given to make the pass? It looks perfectly safe to be in the opposite lane. All I’m saying is, please pass as safely as possible.

Stop signs are situational for cyclists, I almost always roll them in some form or another, but I’m always prepared to make a stop and expect drivers to treat me as if I’m going to make a stop like they would a car. Which is to say, if you’re in a car stopped at a 4 way intersection and see a cyclist barreling down on the intersection, please proceed; it’s the cyclists responsibility to keep themselves safe and not broadside a car passing through an intersection.  (My rules for driving/riding 1. Don’t hit anything 2. Follow the order of operations 3. Go as fast as you can) I don’t think that most drivers can properly empathize and appreciate what a cyclist experiences as they approach an intersection. In a car, you’re isolated in a sound deadened visually restrictive box. On a bike you can see more, hear more, and stop faster.

What? It’s parked between the lines. Isn’t that a good thing /s. Easily remedied though. But messing with a bike is similar to messing with a car, so I’d have to leave it be. Or help it find its way over to the bike rack, or almost to the bike rack.

My response was glib and condescending towards that bike rider because I ride way too much and want to avoid being associated with people like her. Using completely basic definitions, yes she’s a cyclist. As someone who rides outdoors roughly 10 hours per week, I do not identify with that lady (and her skill set/awareness/capabilities would probably make me rage). I’m jumping to the conclusion that based on her clothing she probably doesn’t identify as a cyclist. I view the term as a person who’s made a lifestyle choice that significantly increases biking in their day-to-day life. I’d imagine a lot of opponauts wouldn’t like to be grouped up with street racers, yet both are ‘automotive enthusiasts’.

Also, parking a bike in spot for a car is stupid. Who does that? And who buys a bike with a kickstand? Idjits!
