Kinja'd!!!

I happened to be near LAX today when a bunch of Porsches new and old passed me. I figured something must be going on, so I followed them to the LAX Hilton where this totally rad parts and literature show was going on. It was almost exclusively Porsche and VW stuff. Amazing old parts selling for ridiculous prices. And, Jerry Seinfeld was there. Some of my favorite things were the beautiful posters.

And the toys.

Kinja'd!!!

And for me, I found these awesome brochures for the Glas (then owned by BMW) 1304, and, most astonishingly, a Brütsch microcar brochure. They couldn’t have printed too many of these since that car never really went on sale. At least as a Brütsch.

Kinja'd!!!

Egon Brütsch, who built that funny little car, was a fascinating character who you can read about here:

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

I also got this neat book about French Grand Prix cars.

Kinja'd!!!

And here are some of the cars that were parked outside. Not a bad group.

Oh man I would have cleaned that poster guy out. I’m a total sucker for 60s&70s poster art.

Yeah, me too. That was graphic design at its peak in that era. This stuff wasn’t cheap and I’m out of wall space, so I didn’t bring any of it home.

Yeah seeing as it’s a Porsche/VW meet I’d imagine he wanted big money for that stuff. Luckily posters are still relatively cheap in general, but yeah, wall space is a big problem at my house.

Did you see Model Citizen Diecast/Patrick Strong? He’s a friend of LaLD and he had a booth there.

Ah, I probably did and didn’t realize it. There was plenty of diecast and resin there.

35 for the pair which I think was fair. I’d never seen either before.

PORSCHE STUFF! What an event. That Poster guy has great material, Le Mans, TARGA FLORIO! GT3RS, 964, Vintage 911s/356s, how did you get enough oxygen before fainting?

Great hawl as well, that book must be amazing!

I know. I stared at those posters for a long long time. I could have brought them all home. In the second picture on the top row, you can see one for the Targa that was just to die for as is the one next to it with the hands on the steering wheel. I would have taken more photos, but it was overwhelming. If I had known this was going on, I would have asked if you wanted me to keep my eyes open for anything. But, I did find a couple things that may make their way to the Netherlands some day.

The book is great. It’ll be a good resource when I can get back to Weird Wheeling.

Hadn’t noticed the one with the steering wheel yet but that definitely is the one for me!

I wonder what other books Warne’s Transport Library has in his lineup!

That 356 was for sale? I want it!!

Looks like a great show. One year I must make a pilgrimage to LA for the Porsche shows...

Not a bad lineup. Trucks of the Sixties and Seventies looks interesting.

Ohhh.... Blue blood for $9! Nice line up indeed. Nice to see such a volatile price range!

That’s a little less than I what I paid for my copy of Blue Blood. Amazon is crazy with the prices. Sometimes they’re set by a bot, so it gets out of control. I think I’ll be avoiding whoever is charging $182.05 for Trucks of the Sixties and Seventies.

Haha, indeed! Or you’ll one lucky dude selling/flipping it for monies on the evil bay! I feel the Blue Blood went only to $70.

Good point. I should buy one of the 7 dollar copies and put it on Ebay for $182 even. I’ll get some sucker who wants to save that nickel.

I went to a big yard sale last weekend (for records obviously). And some dude had the Tin Tin casts so I was interested. 20 Euros. Unboxed. Certainly not mint. Without the certificate. People are insane.

At a yard sale? Yeesh. Everyone thinks they have gold. And they’re the same people when you have something to sell, tell you it’s not worth anything, but they’ll take it off your hands.

A scratched box. A SCRATCHED ACRYLIC BOX (there’s supposed to be a outer carton, that was the part that was missing)!!!! What a dumbass. Not a place for these specialized collectors items either although once in a while you find a true gem.
