Well looks like I will be trying this whole thy Tube of You thing people have going on. I have my first car to do a review on but I don’t know what to call my channel. You know, cause it has to be good enough to keep using it and to be catchy enough for people to like it as well. Kinda was hoping to do a CaptDale play on cause that like all of my usernames.... Any Ideas folks?

No you don’t. YouTube names are dumb and all the biggest channels have names that would fit right at home on a throwaway reddit account. Some are downright cringeworthy (Vehicle Virgins? ugh)
You don’t need a cool name. You need a steady stream of content you will produce for years and a way to promote your product so it will be seen by more people.

Why not just go with CaptDale or some variant (CaptianDale, etc.)? Nice, simple and channel names aren’t as important as content. Plus then you can keep the tying it in with your other accounts aspect.
Also, you’re in the LA, CA area-ish, right? If you’d ever be interested in borrowing a 124 or ND for a video review, I’m up there a few times a month.

It’s ok... I mean it is very pretty and nice and blah blah, but growing up in Long Beach and living in the bay area for a year, let me tell you. IT IS SO SMALL. I was very bored with living here the first year or so, but then I figured out places to go and made friends. It is still too small though. Also a lot of the car stuff has little to zero internet presence here because it is all old guys. It took a long time to find meets and some I only hear about long after they are done. Strange place.
What shows do you go to? You mean C&C or Opera?

Oh shows I mean for work, I am a rigger/graphics on shows, we do all of them including the auto show, Super Bowl in SF, America’s Cup, Apple, Google, Oracle... etc... But we have a good C&C, the SF one is douchey if you ask me. You should check out the Marin web page, it is in Novato. There is also a Biscotti and Coffee or something in Sausalito, I haven’t been but my friend in my union lives over there and says it’s pretty high class.

Uh well it might be more fun without showbiz time constraints. People show up with huge signs to go over their show space and they don’t always know what we need from them, so we have to modify or do six hang points instead of four which can take a couple more hours, then it’s 11pm and I have to be back at 8am. I’ve stayed til midnight and slept in the parking garage, then started another project at 4am to be ready by 8am, on double time though... It can be a puzzle, how to get a huge thing closer to the ceiling safely. The Super Bowl sucked, we had to cover Moscone West in vinyl and they printed the graphics the opposite way we like, then it rained for days during the install. I had to go to West Marine and get sailing slickers because my gore tex soaked through. I did get to go on a cruise ship to do a Johnny Walker display while they were doing maintenance, the lights kept going on and off, had to switch to headlamps, it was like being on the Titanic going down.

Yeah there can be easy days and I get more money in my union for being up high in a lift etc.. But I have to go to San Jose sometimes, I hate that, hotels, I hate that. I would do something else if I could. I was a Marine so I can’t blow things up for a living now...
