Icy trails be damned, I’m gonna figure out a way to ride.
So it turns out that fatbikes excel at being pointed into a random bit of woods before shouting “mush!” Thank goodness for good old fashioned orienteering; I got turned around several times, and the Maine woods do not suffer fools lightly.

I’m still skiing, bike is sitting in the garage with a flat tire. All the sealent dried out and the rear won’t hold air. Soon, maybe a week or two and I’ll give it a go. It’s still snowing pretty hard here and the melt has not started.

Both wheels are bent. the front middle gear ring in bent. The rear gears are shot. The rear disc is bent. The rear brake line needs to be flushed and refilled(hydraulic brakes) and the whole rear is missing aligned but can be adjusted with the slide bolts. Its 6 years old and has had minimal attention so a $75 overhaul and some parts is probably overdue

I did this once as well, but on snowshoes. Trail got boring so I quit following it. Managed to get my orientation by sun position 90° out, and after walking in a straight line for what seemed like hours with the sun about to set I came out on a road that was not the road I was expecting. Added about three hours to a one-hour trip by the time I got back to the truck. Oops.
