Kinja'd!!!

In other words, standard autocross preparation. These are the last few things needed to properly STR-ify my NC Miata, so the rest will just be up to the nut behind the wheel. Here’s hoping the 245s don’t rub too much.

NICE those look pretty damn wide for a Miata

What tires are those?

Thanks, and it’s definitely getting there. I’m already running 235s with rolled rear fenders on the car without any drama, so I’m hoping these should be fine as well. If the Miata.net hivemind is to be believed, the worst I should have to worry about is some contact with the plastic front fender liners, which can be either left to “self adjust” or reformed with the aid of a heat gun.

10/10 title. Proud and sad to admit that I immediately knew exactly what you meant.

I will keep an eye out for the inevitable pics! Lowered NCs look dope, they’re my favorte generation despite purist BS about size and weight.

“Self adjustment” of the fender liner works well, but it takes a few hundred miles and smells/sounds really bad + gets melted rubber on your paint. But I doubt you’re anywhere near the level of non functional ride height my friend’s car was at so maybe not?

It’s pretty low, but still usable for most daily driving activities. I have to keep an eye out for the more extreme examples of speed bumps, inclines, break-overs, etc., but otherwise it’s generally good to go just about anywhere. I’ll definitely be opting for the heat gun option if it comes down to it.

I sense a series of upcoming Oppo “name that tire” posts.

Tried to show this to a friend to make him laugh, I forgot that I live in America and he doesn’t know what a rubber is, sigh.

Coincidentally, I’ll be co-opting my fiance’s FRS into hauling the tires to the shop for me, because there’s no way they’d fit in the Miata. I figured that’s about what it’d look like lol.

Cool thanks, I’m looking to get back into Auto-x. I need to research the hot street touring tires.

That looks like so much fun. I’m in the market for a summer car. Maybe it’s NA time...
