These are inexpensive, and have a smooth V8 and what I think as great styling.

That, and I can find one with butt heaters/coolers and some sort of decades-old nav system. Which would be fine. Plus, fancy dash ignition, which is something BMW didn’t have in my E46 but Willys-Overland had on my CJ3A.

Buying something with a Jag V8

This is the critical-decision making abilities we want in the Oppositelock Moderation Team.

All you have to do is put an LS in your LS

I loooooove these things. Unreliable as all hell from what I know, though.

This is a car I’ve always wanted. Just need to convert the v8 to 3 pedals.

The better LS has a 400/430/460/600H L after it...

The E46 has not bankrupted me during my ownership. What doesn’t kill me, etc.

Nah, better LS has a 7 after it.

I’ve always liked those, too. Not enough to buy one, mind you. I thought it was a good effort by Lincoln that just didn’t pan out.

Too hard to find one of those. And I’m lazy. Really I think I’m ready for a V8 sedan.

I’ve been daydreaming about what would be a good candidate for an LS swap, the LS is a clear winner.

The LS seems boring and enormous. I’m not a grandfather.

Or convert the 3 pedal version to V8.

Or just rip out the entire engine and trans combo and stick something better in there.

I’m surprised by the interior - but it’s no E46. That said this would be a perfect commuter.

The manual was only available on the V6, so don’t bother looking for the manual if you want the V8 and luxury options.

The engine was built in Ohio. The transmission is a Ford minivan/SUV transmission.

I will gladly accept a mid-2000s FoMoCo interior with butt warmers over my early-2000s BMW interior with cold leather seats.

I can’t speak directly for the 3.9l variant in the LS, but contrary to what everyone else is saying, the AJ-V8 is a rock solid engine. They got a bad rap because early AJs had plastic tensioners and Nikasil linings and a lot of failures, but beyond that they don’t really have any weaknesses. Jags of this period get brought down by shitty, shitty ZF transmissions, which LSes don’t have.

My main memory of the Lincoln LS is one of my best friends in high school had a neighbor who got one, I rode in it once, and one night while parked in the driveway of their fancy townhouse in a nice Maryland suburb of DC, someone stole the wheels off it and left it on blocks (which continues to be a very common occurrence around there).

Too many miles and too few 2000 year cars available near me. I can find a bevy of LS V8s around me, and a lot still have under 100K miles.

Hmm. Miles really don’t make much of a difference with these. Mine has nearly 227,000 miles on it and it drives better than my S600.

These cars have also really intruiged me. Make it black with the V8, as late model year as possible and I don’t see how it could be any less reliable than the Germans.

Definitely agree on the styling, always liked. Don’t think you can get a manual v8 though, although that matters less to me now as I get old. Someday soon I shall own my first automatic I’m sure.

Oops as usual I forgot about fuel economy. I guess it’d depend on the commute - mine involves more passing left lane hogs than traffic so a V8 is “practical” lol
