The one person in North Texas who knows how to merge from an on ramp!
On my way to work, middle-aged gal in a junky old Sienna turned onto the ramp for I30 West, and I thought, “here we go again, another person who’s going to merge at 35 mph and then start accelerating.” But no, she put pedal to the metal and was up to 65 by the time she entered the right lane!
Don’t tell my wife, I think I may be in love.

I hate people merging at 50 mph on a 65. Or merging into a lane that is merging two separate lanes. Don’t merge into a freaking zipper zone people!

My first drivers ed session, I think I did 3 x 3 hour if I remember right, the instructor drove some awful slow car. And we went onto the nearest highway, and he made me take every exit and re-enter like 10 times in a row and at each on ramp he would yell, “you have to be at 60 before you even turn your blinker on.” He was an intense guy, I sweat through the back of my shirt that day. Maybe she had the same instructor.

The Florida way is to dawdle up at 35 -40 mph, get confused that highway speed is faster, floor it, get confused that the lane’s ending, slam on the brakes, then cut across to the left lane while doing 20 below.

Oh god, this happens to me so much.
There is a half-mile on ramp that merges with 75mph traffic that I use about half the days I go to work.
I can’t tell you how many times the entire train of cars enters the highway at 50mph.
Even though I’m pretty sure they all can hear me screaming from the back of the train, they still do nothing different.

My kids get all excited on highway on-ramps. “Is this where we get to go up to the 6?!” Meaning, 6 on the tach. Yes, my 4-year-old likes when I hit redline.

Drives me up the wall. When I get on the highway in the morning it’s a left lane merge. Before it merges you have about a half mile of near straight to straight with a concrete divider. It’s basically a personal fast lane where you don’t have to worry about getting cut off. Can take the opportunity to pass a ton of people if traffic is heavy or get up to acceptable speed with ease before merging.
But nooooooooooooo. I get stuck behind the asshole who thinks it’s acceptable to merge going 35 into the fast lane or wait until the absolute last minute to floor it.

I drove with someone once (and only once) who literally came to a stop on the on ramp while waiting for a break in traffic that he could get on between.
I was stunned into silence. I don’t think it really registered what he did until quite a few miles down the road.

Grandma in her ‘89 Sentra crawls up to the right lane at 35 and finds that everyone in the right lane is cruising at 60 and won’t let her in ‘cause real Texans apparently don’t know to clear the right lane for merging. So, she stops dead and makes us all hit the brakes.
