Kinja'd!!!

Just two Lexus RXe s in their natural habitat– a coffee shop parking lot.

Yesterday, I went to a coffee shop to study for a few hours. I don’t normally back into spots, but I decided to so the ice would melt off of the front of my car. It must have attracted a fellow Grocery Grabber owner.

This is the first time I’ve had another RX park near me in a way that seems to be intentional, so I’m going to assume the owner is a fellow car enthusiast. At the very least, they’re a Lexus RX enthusiast!

These are very exciting times we live in. It seems that there are multiple RX owners who care about driving! Stereotypes are being broken left and right; who knows what’ll happen next?

In SF it’s known as clones, when people are attracted to a copy of themselves :P

Who can spot the difference between a Canada built RX and a Japan built. Both sold in the US. Ready..... go!

The official car of my mom and her group of Portland-suburb upper-middle-class later-middle-age empty nest mom friends. More than half of them(including her) have RXs. I think it’s hilarious but the lack of creativity is a little sad.

I think that’s the demographic nationwide. It’s a solid car all around, I can’t fault people for choosing it. My sister in law (early 40s) just bought a 2015 model CPO and I half-joked with her that she was already moving into the Lexus RX 20 years early, planning ahead. She’s sort of sensitive about her age, so it didn’t go over very well.

Haha, makes sense! I’ve parked next to other RX’s before solely because we had the same car, but I’m sure the other owners didn’t notice if they’re the stereotypical RX driver.

It’s definitely the demographic nationwide. My dad is on his second RX that’s 4 years newer than mine so it’s effectively the replacement of my RX. He’s 61 so apart form him being male, he is the prime example of an RX driver haha!

In my 4.5 years of driving an RX, I’ve seen one other guy driving an RX that was around my age. I would think that either it was the family car, or it was handed down to him, too.

Ironically, I was tempted to take a peek at the vin to see where theirs was made, but I figured that was a little too creepy. Mine was made in Japan and theirs was most likely made in Canada, so I was thinking you were a wizard that knew of some visual difference between the Japanese and Canadian ones haha!

Yup. Also known as a fancy Highlander, too.

Wow, I’m honestly really impressed with that quote. It’s so true. I’ll have to remember that one!

Hey, I watched it happen with the Miata, and then later with the B5 Passat I drove. I’m sure it’s sexist, but the husbands/boyfriends almost always end up with the older and/or crappier car.

I disagree on the rx’s natural habitat. Their natural habitat is definitely cutting me off on the highway while the middle aged lady with huge sunglasses drinks her starbucks, talks on the phone, and puts her makeup on, all while not even noticing that they came within inches of my car.

At least that’s where I always see them.

Yup, I can confirm. Except for a brief period when my dad got a ‘04 TL new, my mom has had the newest car in the family. It’s a 2011 Odyssey so it’s not very fancy, but it’s still the newest.

I probably know every single nut, bolt, and washer on these cars. T’was a Lexus Master Tech from 06-10.

Haha! I am not a middle aged lady, but I can definitely confirm that many RX’s find themselves in that situation.
