Built by taking an existing carrier and upgrading it with unpaid labor by covering it in gold leaf. Funded with daddy’s inheritance money. Will break down in 5 years but get written off of taxes and sold for scrap.

At some point the carrier manufacturer will get the idea to make money and help its public image by participating in a reality TV show. Critics will pan the show but it will gain a cult following because the carrier “tells it like it is” to a small demographic of viewers frustrated with factually correct daytime TV.

Despite the overreaction though, it won’t be a big deal or end the world, just end up costing a lot of unnecessary time and money and become a mess of a production, so that the show gets canceled mid-season when the carrier is decommissioned.

Years later, fans of the carrier will equate it to numerous other what could have been projects to justify the cost and post pictures of it when people try to argue for sensible, effective, experienced, and cost-effective carriers instead.

Normally you think of Russian things, like an AK-47 or a Lada, being quite crude but surprisingly reliable, but I guess that same logic doesn’t apply to their aircraft carrier; they only have the one, right?

The plumes of smoke in that image were also critical to showing what a floating turd that thing really is.
