Kinja'd!!!

Bose quiet comfort 35. I could never justify $350 for headphones, no matter how much I like music. But my wife, who barely has a musical bone in her body, decided she could for her webinars. Well, this angel of a woman offered me her phones for this trip, and I gotta say, they are fantastic.

The sounds is fabulous. It’s not as heavy on the bass as many people would like for today’s pop music, but it’s nicely balanced. The midrange is good, while I can hear the high hat fine without it being intrusive.

But what reall shines about these is the noise cancellation and what it does for the music. Flip them on and ambient jet noise doesn’t go away completely, but pretty darned close. Then you start the tunes, and you don’t hear the background at all. All you hear is music. All I had on my iPad was my daughter’s playlist, and so I ended up listing to Taylor Swift, of all things. I think “22" may b my new favorite. They’re that good (don’t judge me)

So yeah, $350 is too much to charge for headphones, but if you can get your hands on some, it won’t take long to forget the cost.

Also, I found this by the gate. I’m sure no one will be coming to collect it, but I’m leaving it right here because I’ve lost stuff in airports before that some unnamed asshole decided to keep because it never made it to lost and found. I will never be that guy.

Yeah, I read people dissing Bose, and I wonder what they’re thinking. Must be they some personal preference for sound balance.

AKG, Sennhesier, and Grado all make better cans

I know many people say that. I just can’t see what they’re talking about. It must be preference for the way they balance sound. For instance, I know Bears have heavier bass by default, and folks that like hip hop or rap often prefer them.

Yes, they do but the noice canceling is hard to beat on the Bose. Try using AKG, Sennheiser or Grado headphones in a plane and tell me how that goes.

You know, I can’t make fun of you for liking Taylor Swift. I’m 40 years old and I find myself listening to her too. She’s got some seriously catchy songs.

If you don’t mind earbuds Klipsch makes some solid products that aren’t break the bank expensive. I’ll also second the ppl mentioning Sennhesier.

I have some Sony noise-canceling earbuds that I chose mostly because they were what was cheaply available at Best Buy while I was visiting family and really wanted noise cancellation for my return flight home. They reduce some of the jet noise but don’t approach eliminating it. I’ve been slightly tempted since then to get proper noise canceling headphones, but I have way too many assorted random headphones to justify buying any more.

The best as far as noise cancellation. I wasn’t a big fan of Bose until these. Now I’ve got one of the Bluetooth speakers as well.

Iv’e read that they’re good. For som reason though, everyone agrees Bose has the lock on noise cancellation. Still, those would be good for when I’m. It flying.

I feel ya on that. Also, I have some over ears from an outfit called Photive. Best $50 headphones you’ll ever buy. They hit way above their class. But. O noise cancellation. There is another brand I can’t remember right now that is said to have most of the noise reduction of Bose at half the price.

Although not very cheap, either the PSB M4U2 is a pair of headphones I had (or kinda still have, I guess) that have excellent noise cancellation and sound quality. Seems to get good reviews all around, and the sound is excellent - I’m trying to find headphones that match it - not saying that there aren’t better ones, but for that price it was the sound I was looking for. Just wish it was built a bit better since the headband broke.

Off the top of my head I have those Sony noise canceling buds, Sony cans, PowerBeats for the gym, some old Philips earbuds that are my watch Netflix in bed headphones, some old Sony over-the-ear ones with the band that goes behind the back of your head that lived in a drawer for probably 10 years but I unearthed recently once or twice, some random trashy Walgreens gym wired ones from this one day I forgot my gym headphones and really wanted headphones or something...that’s it I think? Oh and the earbuds that came with my Roku 4. Not that those are any good. My wife also has some cheapie Amazon bluetooth sport ones. I think I’m set.

not a muso myself, but these are fantastic, had them for close to a year now, the batteries last for way more than you expect and extremely useful on flights, long drives (feels like your in a tesla... just be careful with your local laws) and bike riding

Yeah I never use headphones on my bike. Someday I’d like to get some bone conduction phones so I can listen while hearing surroundings.

I fly over 50K miles a year so these were a must have for me. I waited a few months and picked up a pair on CL for $275 unopened. Saved me about $100 when you consider tax.

I use Klipsch M40 headphones. In comparison tests they destroy everything (including bose) but most importantly those obnoxious beats headphones everyone wears. Those suck.

And thank GOD I didn’t pay for them either, xmas gift from my in laws.

My daughter wanted Beats for Christmas, and my mom got them for her. She loved them for the first hour, after which the ear pads began peeling apart. We think maybe they were imposter knockoffs? Anyway, back they went, and my daughter won’t even look at Beats anymore. Fine by me. I think they’re over priced.

I’ve read many good things about the Klipsch.

They probably were NOT knockoffs. They just suck. Guy at work was wearing them last week...and a whole ear phone fell off. Like...his left ear fell off completely. Sennheiser makes good stuff too.

The over ear noise cancelling Klipsch’s that I use they don’t make anymore unfortunately.

Well I can’t prove anything. We just hope that Beats themselves didn’t make something so shoddy, but you never know.

I’ve read that Plantronics Back Beat Pro are almost as good as Bose for noise cancelling.
