Speaking with an ambassador before one is a member of the campaign vs. answering a questionaire about his activities as a member of a campaign and answering a question to that specific are two entirely different things. His answer to Franken under oath spoke to the questionaire - “I did not have communications with the Russians (regarding the campaign)” does not require never having communicated with any Russians, ever.
Also, Claire McCaskill is a poor liar, and said previous contact with the ambassador was not in any way out of order.

I believe that the ultimate decision that Clinton’a indescretions were no big deal is what started us down the road (on at least pushed well down it) to becoming inured to scummy behavior in our leaders and paved the way for someone with Trump’s behavior to win office. It lowered the bar for acceptable behavior.
Make no mistake. Clinton did perjure himself. The Senate just decided it wasn’t a big enough deal to convict.

Sure it’s fair, but I think the political reality is it won’t happen. Believe me, I’d be extremely happy to see him go for many reasons. But the GOP objectors we saying he should recuse himself, and he did, so I doubt Trump will fire him based on what people like Nancy Pelosi are saying.

I think the bugbear for a lot of folks is they know that Sessions would happily send them to Federal prison for a good portion of their lives for that time they accidently ripped off a mattress tag when they were 8. So recusal seems like a bit of a cop out.

Yup. And it has little to do with political affiliation. There is a tremendous amount of smoke coming from numerous members of this regime with regards to their business interests and ties to foreign governments. It should be thoroughly and independently investigated. I do not take their word that there is nothing to see here. I would be calling for the same should those I agree with have the same level of suspicion around them.
This is so much more than being angry that She lost. I vehemently disagree with what this regime is proposing and doing policy wise, but those are policy disagreements which are part of being a citizen and involved in our society. This, among a vast many other issues speaks to a very large problem; is our current government working for the people (us as US citizens) or are they working for their own self-interests and/or the interests of another country?

The school board at the district where I work was doing something a couple of years ago and the union was trying to mobilize people to come down and demonstrate at the board meeting. I went and sort of showed up and kind of dawdled around the edges. One teacher acquaintance of mine, a formidable Polynesian woman and union activist, kind of stood in front of me with her shoulders all squared and demanded to know why I hadn’t participated. I said, “You do not know that I have not. You do not know what conversations I’ve had with whom. Maybe I have another approach that’s not all bombastic (and pointless).” She sort of had to accept that.
I feel you, Mercedes, as much as it’s possible for a White breeder to relate. I am working this as hard as I can, though right now, that means keeping my powder sealed and dry while I wait for things to unfold. I eschew the Pelosi and the Schumer approaches of just throwing poo and being hyperbolic. They’re the ones who brought us this despicable man and his cadre. I am waiting for some of these DNC types to show some leadership.

Fair enough, it’s very commendable to be a sort of “true neutral” (not sure if I’m using the correct terms here).
In my case, I’m sort of losing patience and the will to just sit and “wait and see” if they actually turn out to be monsters. I believe people can change, but people like Sessions are not likely to suddenly become progressive in ideals. :/

I’m glad that’s your take because it’s accurate. I’m sorry we don’t live close to each other. Socially, it is important for me to keep in mind that I am a member of the privileged class and that they entire system is designed to serve people like me and my family. I don’t feel guilty about that, just a sense of responsibility.
As for “true neutral,” I don’t see myself that way at all. I am strongly opinionated, but I try to give my opinions balanced consideration.
