The mentality that AWD is automatically safer is arguably pretty dangerous in itself. AWD is great, just make sure that it doesn’t give a false sense of security.
Having good, correct tires for the season is far more important.

Sure.
They should stick with my previous suggestion. Cheap, reliable and one of the safest cars on the market. With the decent all seasons they and the traction control should have no issues getting anywhere in the snow. Plus it sits higher and has impressive ground clearance.

Snow tires make it a lot more fun. Not being able to move while on summer rubber is not fun. Slowly sliding around at 5mph because of extreme lack of traction is not fun. Drifting around while carrying speed because you do have traction... now that’s fun.

Well I don’t think its that bad as that animation suggests OP.
But her budget doesn’t seem feasible for a tank. She wants a TANK then. a tank straight from the Armed Forces. A road legal M1A1 Abrams then Because even a Hummer or Ford Excursion can’t be touted as safe enough for her. lol
