I’ve had it for the same time and I’m curious but so far resisted clicking on it.
I’ve nearly got caught out a few times. Looked at something, wrote out a long winded critical reply only to think, ‘hang on this is Jezebel, Deadspin, Root, etc... )‘ and know I’ll get some that agree and some that will be so antagonistic or idiotic it’s not worth posting.

Those are based off the highest-traffic stories in the network at the moment, so it’s not anything personalized per se. I think the article view handles it differently, but if you’re looking at the front page of anything on Kinja, that defaults to the top three stories by traffic across the network.
I’ve been seeing the same thing—this is an article from 2010!—so I was curious as to what was going on. Per Chartbeat, a page called “Rednecks Unlimited” on Facebook and the “Men Going Their Own Way” Reddit are the two places driving traffic over there at the moment. (Which is strange, as the article itself that they’re linking in
OUTRAGE
explains the origins of the term and presents it with a
big
grain of salt.)
