Swapped out the old sealed beam units for hella e4 headlights. It’s apparently a pretty popular upgrade as the hella units offer not only better light output, but the ability to replace just the bulb instead of the whole headlight. That and installation took 15 minutes.

That said, I like the more domed look of the old sealed headlights a bit better. Oh well, give and take I suppose. Side note: some people like to replace the fogs with clear, non-sealed units but those people are crazy. I love them yellow fogs.

I got some better light surround things for my w123, there was a crack in one. But if you change one the fade will never match.

Nice! I didn’t know(or more likely forgot) you had a w123. I was thinking of getting these for mine, but was just given a complete spare set of bulbs so I’ll wait a bit.

I’m dropping mine off tomorrow to get the driver side floor replaced.

Yea I’ve been daily driving it for a few months now and it’s been great! I’ll let you know tomorrow how big of a difference the headlights make. I think having the reflector on the inside helps scatter light a lot better than the sealed units. The lights were $80 shipped off summit racings site, so not too much more than a couple of sealed units too.

So after driving into work this morning, I can confidently say the headlights are a night and day difference (haha). But yea, they were great. I haven’t seen what new sealed headlights look like in terms of light output, but the Hellas were a vast improvement over the ones I had in.

Awesome! I’ll add to my list of eventual things to do.

Discovered that my horn and reverse lights aren’t working on the way to the shop. Hopefully that is just a fuse. But within a week I should have my car back and no chance of falling through the floor. Yay!
