New job, new place to live, working on getting a new car. I’m extremely excited about all of this. This is a nice change from my miserable job search. I think last time everything was going this good I was in Russia.
So someone had posted a picture of a 944 and it got me wondering what happened to k-roll since I didn’t remember seeing him post in a while, and in finding his profile I came across this:

Good to hear. I’m in a similar place myself, currently organising a nice little house with a driveway and starting a new job. Means some disposable income and living in a decent area of the country. Goodbye living with parents and retail work!

See, I’ve spoiled myself. After living in my house with the one car garage the last seven years, now I want a larger one. Although truth be told I wanted a larger garage back then too but the house was a good deal.

I’m coming up to a ver similar time. Graduation, get married 7 days later, going to live with the mother in law for a few months since she’s got a big house and just her living there, I interviewed this morning and then got a call on my way home that an accounting firm wanted a second interview... It’s starting to look good because even recently it was not. Just need to first domino getting an offer to start falling.

Yeah I am aware. It has been difficult. It was a 17 year journey. It was the pinnacle of my profession. I realize I can’t achieve the pinnacle again and it is totally taking the wind out of my self esteem.
I trained, worked hard, sacrificed and learned everything I could to get there...and when I got there...it wasn’t to be. Now I am back down the mountain wondering if I am ok here or is this too small for me? Maybe I need a new profession...though did I just waste 2 decades to learn this? Perhaps that is the lesson?
Currently I feel like a McLaren mechanic who just arrived at a GMC dealer.

I feel you, I don’t know what to tell you. I know I just took a $50k+ paycut, that kinda had me down, but the quality of life here is going to be so much better. I had to change fields and start at the bottom, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. It sounded like you were miserable in your old job and it sounds like your quality of life is better. I don’t know what else to tell you. It’s easy to focus on the negative, but the positives are what matter.
