We got it! Picked it up at the dealer last night. Got an awesome deal on an SL, and my mom absolutely loves it. Not gonna lie, I’m liking it too. It has a ton of awesome features the Odyssey and TL never gave us. I can’t wait to take some road trips this summer.

(For the record I wanted a blue one but my mom insisted on red. Not gonna lie, the red looks amazing.)

Definitely one of the best minivans available today! :D :D (kidding...but it is probably the minivanniest of the crossovers, which is not a bad thing. I just wish Nissan had come up with a new name instead of using Pathfinder again.)

Hopefully she doesn’t become a statistic of the pathfinder

Not saying it wont be great, I just remember reading this recently.

My wife has been happy with her ‘13 Pathfinder. The only real issue is that the hood shakes at high speed (65+) and makes you think it’s going to come flying up. They’ve tightened it a couple of times, but I make sure to check it every few months.

In reality though, it looks huge next to the Odyssey despite being smaller dimensionally. And if it makes you feel better we refer to it as the Mallfinder.

It’s only been a day, but my mom already loves it. She says she’s actually really excited to drive it home from work, which is something I don’t ever remember her saying about a car.

It’s funny how the “macho treatment” can make cars look bigger than they are.

Glad she’s happy with it!

I know things change, but it seems so hard to believe that this is called a Pathfinder. But, they need to go where the sales are. How many people really want a BOF SUV these days?

My wife and I were looking at all of the 3-row SUVs to replace our Odyssey. We were really surprised at the lack of space in the 2nd row in the pathfinder (we have 3 kids so a 3rd row is almost required to keep the fighting to a minimum). This was the case for just about all 3-row SUVs. The lone exception is the Explorer.

The Pathfinder is a very nice looking vehicle, inside and out, but that 2nd row killed it. We would almost consider going with the Murano because the back seat of that is huge compared to the pathfinder. But then we lose a lot of space and utility compared to the Odyssey or a 3-row SUV.

If anyone has experience or opinions on new Explorers, I would be interested.

My brother bought a Platinum in a dark shale color after giving up on trying to find a used Infiniti JX34/QX60. He loves it.

Many years of happy ownership to your mother.

A lot of it has to do with the height of the hood and belt line too.

The second row is actually what sold on us on the Pathfinder. We go on 3-4 road trips each year of about 4-6 hours, so I need to be comfortable in the back seat. One of the reasons we didn’t go with the Pilot (our original first choice) is because the second row wasn’t as comfortable as the Pathfinder’s. They were both similar on space, but the Pathfinder was more comfortable and reclined much further (I usually sleep in the back, which requires reclining the seat). In addition, Nissan dealers have great incentives on Pathfinders so we got a very well equipped SL for significantly less than what a Pilot EX would’ve cost. We didn’t really look at the Explorer since my mom wasn’t a fan.

I’ve got a white 2014 SL tech.

We love it. Space inside is amazing. I’ve had mine for 2 years so far and no major problems. Only little problems like a relay, and trim that had to be replaced. Gas mileage is decent for a 7 passenger of this size.

when I picked mine up I had a 7 hour drive home. The hood thing scared the shit out out me too. Then I read on pathfinder talk that it is a known issue. I just got used to it, now that I know it won’t pop up.

Is the second row adjustable at all? Maybe there’s a hard-to-find switch to slide that row.

I guess there the Honda Pilot as well, but I’ve never shopped in that segment so I can’t help much.

People really seem to love the Highlander, so definitely check that out. There’s also the hybrid with is nice. Gets a bit expensive with the hybrid and all the options but you could find a certified pre owned one if you want all that stuff but want to keep the price down.

As for the Explorer, I’ve ridden in them a few times as cabs and they’re okay. Maybe a little more truck-like than the completion, for better and for worse. If you want there’s a big twin-turbo engined version (explorer sport, explorer limited) which has a lot of power. I drove a police cruiser with that engine (don’t ask how I got to do that) and it was surprisingly quick.

There is adjustment for the Pathfinder 2nd row, but my 2 boys (and myself) are over 6ft tall, and we can fit, but it is cramped. One big thing that we noticed was that there was no room to fit your feet under the front seats. This makes a big difference. The Pathfinder is a great looking vehicle (I think better looking than the Infiniti on the same platform).

We tested an Explorer Sport with the twin-turbo, and for how we drive, the cost does not make sense. It didn’t seem like it was faster/stronger than the ecoboost-4 that is offered with most other trim levels. It was a little quieter pulling away from a stop, but the 4 wasn’t bad (we would probably go with the NA 6).

As for the Toyota, I won’t own one. I think the company operates with an arrogance, and that trickles down to the dealers. In my area, there is no deal to be had on the Highlander. Don’t get me started about Toyota corporate advertising, or the fact that more often than not, when you see someone driving poorly, they are in a Toyota.
