What is it? It’s a Subaru racecar, with Pikes Peak sticker on the side... But what model is it? Can you guys figure if it actually ran? No other pictures of it unfortunately...

“FWIW, Subaru ran a full-race, turbocharged Justy 4WD at Pikes Peak back in 1987 (might have been 1988, but I think ‘87). The engine was so small it looked like a briefcase with a tiny turbo hung on the side. The driver looked like a little accountant, with black-rimmed glasses - but he never lifted for the corners I was watching, and had the little thing plenty sideways! No threat to Walter Rohrl’s times in the factory Sport Quattro, but a decidedly cool little car!”

That’s the Subaru 400 GI. It was the precursor to the Impreza. It was the first car to feature a twin-cam engine and it popularized the Boxer engine layout. It competed in rally competitions globally starting in 1973 and dominated the sport. It competed against the Mitsubishi Delia and the Honda BR-O “Scamp” which was in essence a Z600 modified for rally racing and I’m talking completely out of my ass.

Posted an update, but the driver of the car in Pikes Peak in 1988 is actually my wife’s dentist lol.
I’ll try and get more infos on the car later on.
