In the past few years I’ve described F1 as a bit like an abusive partner.
You know you should leave and it’s not worth it anymore, but every time you are about to make that decision there is this great moment together. But then it’s back to disappointment afterwards.
But it means well. It’ll change! I mean.. things can’t change right away, of course.
But it’s trying!
This time for real!
I can’t expect thing to change for now, there is still the old problems going on. But when those go away, it will be different. Really!
The new boss will be kinder and there won’t be need to take it out on me. I’m sure everything will be better THIS time around!
We’ve had a bit of a break and the clothes are different. It’s changed. So I’m sure everything will be alright this time.

what about it has actually been abusive to you?
Neglectful and selfish maybe, but not abusive. They’ve never trapped us in the relationship, or gaslighted us, or hit us, or blamed the fans in anyway.
I think it’s more like a relationship where two people want different things, and one isn’t putting the right kind of effort into the relationship and is trying to impress other people (emerging market sponsorship).
Also if Bernie had his way it never would have lost it’s excitement, he called shenanigans on the turbos, and called for wider rear tires years ago.
