Kinja'd!!!

It was cloudy but thankfully not raining so I gave ol’ girl a scrub and went for a drive. The Miata photo-bombed my picture. I need a pic with the VW as well. Something something axis powers.

I’ve got some spare mx5 badges if you want to... Class it up a bit

Pretty sure you’re the only 348 on Oppo, so I would call this a quality post.

If they were magnetic, that would be pretty funny to slap on and take to cars and coffee. I’ll just say it is a poorly executed Miata replica!

I had some story to go along with the picture so it’s a bit of lost potential. It’s one of those days though and the Ferrari badged Miata post made me want to share the picture haha

Cars & Coffee, trolling edition. As soon as you did that you’d have people nodding along pointing out places that give it away...

That would make an entertaining video! I need to find some exotic car owners and do a different car every time. Seems like Doug could make this happen but his microphone would be a dead giveaway haha

Mmmmmm 348....

The 355 was the last time small Ferraris were actually small. Its a tossup between the 348 and the 355 as far as looks are concerned, but 355s are now worth all the money, so the 348 is pretty goldyloxy.

The 348 and 355 were on basically the same chassis so the proportions are near identical. The 348 is pretty special, to me at least, as it was the last old school v8 Ferrari. No power steering, dog leg transmission, etc. I drove a 328 and 355 while looking for a car and the 348 truly was the Goldilocks of the three cars. At least this is how it felt to me haha

Yeah, its all about those proportions. Really really good looking cars and fantastically cool sounding engines. Enjoy your super awesome car!

Thank you! I have been so far. I put more miles on the car in the last 4 months than the PO did in the last 4 or 5 years!

Hah! That’s doing it right! I guess that’s the other advantage of owning a Ferrari that’s not worth millions and millions of dollars. Make that horse prance.

Exactly! Although, it’s less impressive that I only put 1000 miles on it so far. I think the PO pulled it out once a year. According to the service records, he drove it a ton the first 5 years, some the next 5, and almost none the last 15. He was ~75 upon selling so I’m assuming the car was too hard to drive as he aged and the new shiny toy was better for him. I’m glad he could enjoy it while he could though and very thankful he took such good care of it. Even when he wasn’t driving it.

Always star 348s, especially older ones with the black cladding. I need one of these in my life...

Two years ago was the time to get in. But, I think (hope) they keep going up in value. Since every other F car is going crazy right now, more people are looking at the 348's and realizing their old school greatness. At least that’s what I’m telling myself. I would highly recommend getting one, but I am clearly biased haha. You only need one kidney, right? ;)

I know. :(

I am only roughly half-way there to being able to buy one outright at today’s prices. I would need another two years to finish that out, but really then the values will have likely increased more people nostalgic for them get interested.

That was me for like, 3 years. The more I saved, the more prices increased. I had the chance to buy a nice silver with red interior 328 in 2013 for under 40k. I was recently out of school and didn’t think it was a smart move to finance 50% a 25 year old Ferrari. Hindsight is 20/20, I guess haha.

I will have been out of school for two years this May, so pretty close!

I don’t even know that anybody would finance a 27 year-old car, especially one that’s a driver rather than an investment.

There is a whole industry for financing classic cars. F-Chat users have had luck with JJ Best, lightstream, and others. Finance charges are higher than a new car, but it seems funds are readily available. I know Doug finances his #dougcar thru Penfed. His cars are typically below investment grade as well so they must have loose stipulations.

I typically don’t like the idea of financing, but it is a tool that makes sense in many situations. F-cars seems to fit into these situations. It’s better to finance at 5.9% than to wait as it seems values are outpacing the APR. I am but no means a financial expert but I am good at math. Plus, I believe if your dream is available now and you have the means plus a contingency plan, no reason not to go for it. Life is short, enjoy it while you can. I also like to believe it’s easier to get a wife (or husband!) when you have a Ferrari than it is to get a Ferrari when you have a wife. :p

+1 for Lightstream! Great rates and I used them to finance part of my most recent used car purchase (2007 car). Interest rate is low enough that it makes sense to free up money for investments elsewhere.

Yeah, but how do you tell the wife that is interested in the actual car from the one that’s just interested in what society expects it to represent? :o
