Kinja'd!!!

When I was younger, I attempted to get my class A CDL, but I had some personal problems when I was doing it and never finished. Now I aim to fix that.

Sometime in the next three weeks I start class at New England Tractor Trailer Training School, the best place to do this sort of thing. I have to talk to my boss and see about changing my shift, otherwise I’m going to be working 8-4 Monday thru Friday, going to school from 5-10 on Wednesday, and from 7am-5pm Saturday and Sunday now until August.

I like my job, it’s super easy, but it’s got zero growth potential because there’s only two employees in RI. If I wanted to advance within the company I’d have to move to Jersey, which I will not do. There’s lots of places I’d move to, New Jersey is not one of them.

Basically I want to make more money so my wife can change careers. She’s also in something of a dead end job, and we want to be better off. This seems like the logical first step.

Also, I get to play with big trucks.

Good for you! I read an article about a couple that both got their class A license, sold everything they owned, then hit the road together as a long-distance driving team. Their goal was to see the U.S. while paying off their debts.

That’s actually an excellent plan. You make a ton of money driving as a team, since the truck is always rolling. My wife would shit a brick trying to drive one of these things though, haha.

Tennessee is a place I would move to. I know nothing about it, but it just seems like I’d like it.

It’s great. When I tell everyone my family moved here from California they’re all like “I want to move to California” and I’m like “Nah, it’s better here”. Plus the people are nice.

You should make a point of coming down! Just don’t do it in August. You’ll die of humidity.

Also, NETTS is stupid expensive. I had looked into them first, ended up paying less than 1/4 of what it would have been through them.
