I found a few strange things to show Oppo, but this takes the cake. It’s a 1981 Chevy Citation “X-11" that was featured in a short New York Times piece (along with it’s owner) about GM’s decline a few years ago. It’s essentially a front wheel drive Fiero, which means that it’s a hopeless piece of garbage. Unsurprisingly, QA issues were the focus of the article. I’d never spend my own money on this, but I’d love to drive one and I’m glad someone preserved it.

According to the seller, this mint condition Lada is an improvement on the original Fiat design, and even has a period correct smell. That’s right, a smell. The ad is an entertaining read.

This Chevy Vega has a lot in common with that Citation. It’s another laughable attempt at making an economy car, and this is the high performance version. A “Cosworth” Vega, with a plaque and a number (196). Horsepower? 110.

The MKII Supra has always been my favorite. This is the “P Type” so it has the ultra eighties roof spoiler/fender flares combo. The wheels are unusual too; probably not to everyone’s taste but you can’t deny that they’re period correct. I’d keep them.

This 99 looks like it’s being let go from someone’s collection, check out that Audi coupe behind it. These are the best looking cars Saab ever made IMO. And look at those seats!

I’ve always liked the E32 (BMW’s 7 series from the late eighties/early nineties) and this is the most unusual version you’ll find. It’s equipped with a 3.5 liter M30B35 straight six and a manual transmission.

This old GL is definitely worth looking at. It’s a TIL for me - I had no idea these existed. The dash is amusingly eighties. Once again, wouldn’t buy it, but would totally drive it, so I’m happy that it’s still around.

This Z isn’t all that unusual all things considered. But it’s MINT for a 200k/mi example (the fresh paint is, at least). And the violently red interior looks nice too. But it’s still shocking. I can’t believe people liked that at one point in time!?

My stepdad had a Z that was nearly identical to that one, except it was an automatic. Non turbo, 2+2, automatic. It was very meh. I actually liked the red interior, though.

I’ve been in a dark blue one, the interior is actually pretty awesome depending on the options - did your dad’s have the graphic EQ? Such a cool vintage feature

I think I’d be amused for a few weeks, and then wish it was more subdued.

I’d be ok with that. As long as it still has a straight six...

“which means that it’s a hopeless piece of garbage”

YOU TAKE THAT BACK! YOU TAKE THAT BACK RIGHT NOW!!

Honestly, the X-11 was about the best of the worst. Great showroom stock SCCA cars.

The Cossie Vega was actually a decent car. 110 horsepower from a 2.3 liter 4 was nothing to laugh at in 1975. Considering a 500ci Cadillac was struggling to make 200 horsepower at the same time.

OK I TAKE IT BACK!! It does look pretty cool and the interior does it for me too. And yeah wow that’s a good point. The power density of the Vega is definitely impressive for the year/country of origin if you compare it to those FWD boats. Though of course the Germans were doing much better in the power density department at the time - 2002s made 120-130 horsepower out of a 2.0

That was the Cossie Vegas biggest downfall. It was within dollars of a 2002. (Both were in Corvette territory too)

Yeah, and it had the voice warning system too. That stopped working after a few years though.

I used to see those Subarus just about everywhere when I was a kid in the early to mid-90s. Haven’t seen one in ages!

And I would 100% own a Citation X-11.

Chevy Citation Fun Fact: GM actually used Lancia Beta berlinas as mules during the development of the x-11 Citation

The 2101 is nice, but CP. Very much CP. Plus if the car’s in Florida, I can just about guarantee it’s seen a few owners since the single owner.

Also, it was -17°F yesterday morning. That’s incredibly early for spring. Give it a couple months.

Yeah man, the Citation is one of those “100 car garage” vehicles that would probably be awesome if you reached that level (of boredom?)

110hp in 1975 isnt too bad. made as much power as engines 3 times the size.

unfortuantely they ate headgaskets for lunch. apparently no one researched that different metals expand at different rates.
